Was he saying in a nice way that he doesn't want to be friends with benefits anymore?

This guy and I have been having casual sex for over a year now he's busy working a lot now he just got a new job. So, we don't get to see each other as much as we used to. Sometimes we go months without seeing each other. I saw him yesterday and we talked. He told me not to limit myself and that it was okay for me to date. Because I deserve to be happy and if dating other people makes me happy then it's ok (I told him I was dating someone). He said I deserve to be happy. And to be involved with someone who can give me more of their time etc. I get what he's saying but I told him that it wasn't an issue for me. And that I like spending time with him because I feel safe. I told him I'd been verbally abused growing up. He told me he as and as also been physically abused by his stepdad. I asked him if his mother knew that he and I were friends and he said yes.

He told me he doesn't have many friends and that he doesn't talk to many people. He has a problem with communication.

He told me to let him know if I start having sex with someone else. And that he and I would stop having sex and just be friends. And that there would be no more sexy time. Then he made a comment saying something like I could easily get you back started having sex again and he laughed. So basically if he and I are just friends without the sex. He believes that he can just get me back started again.

I asked him flat out if was he saying that he didn't want to see me again. And he said that's not what he's saying. I'm not asking if he wants to be in a relationship. I am asking if he's saying that he no longer wants to be friends and have casual sex.

I have gone out on two dates with another guy and we are going on a third date soon.

He didn't just say date other people that's not how the conversation started. I had mentioned that I had gone out on a date with another guy. Whereas he said it was ok if I did.

We had sex and all that and then afterward I mentioned I had gone out on a date with a guy. And that I was thinking about going on another date with him. This is how we started talking about this. It wasn't like he just told me I should date other people.
