My husband (who is deployed) told me he’d rather be with me than the group of guys he’s hangs with all the time… is that a compliment?

I told him that’s nice, and he said it was a compliment- but in my mind I don’t see that as a compliment- cuz I don't know I’d always choose to hang out with my husband over my friends/anyone. And maybe if he said something like “than be with anyone else” it would feel more like a compliment but I don't know.

And just to add… he has already told me he doesn’t love these friends. Like he says they are ok but not the best and lol idk… I know it’s sweet he’d rather be with me! But like as a comparison in my mind thats the minimum of what I’d expect/hope.

i see it as a compliment. at least when my boyfriend says things like this, it always makes my heart feel warm.

i see it as him wanting to spend time with me than with his friends at the moment. i see it as him missing me or just wanting to be close and i find it so sweet when he says this. he loves being around me, so maybe it's the same for you. he may miss you and he may prefer to be with you right now than with the people he hangs out with.
