He offered to pay my grocery bill?

I was at my local supermarket shopping with my Mom and we walked towards the checkout line. There was a guy that entered the line and I didn’t pay any attention until I noticed him moving closer and closer to me. I move a step over and he movers over. At this point we were shoulder to shoulder
and it seemed like the cashier thought we were together. I whispered and made a sarcastic joke to my mother “I guess this is my husband” in another language.

I pulled out my cash and told the the cashier I had a separate transaction and he tells the cashier “I’m going to pay for her.” I started laughing and I thought it was a joke until he tapped me and insisted to pay. He tells me that I look good in the dress im wearing and that I made his day so he’s going to pay.

I appreciated the gesture but I’m curious what was his motive because it was awkward 😂😂

I had an older guy do that for me a couple Christmases ago, just because I let him ahead of me in line (he had fewer groceries than I did). He paid for his, then waited until I was done checking out and said he’d pay for mine. I asked him, “why would you do that? You don’t have to” I’ll never forget his response, “I know I don’t have to but I want to! I’m not a wealthy man but I feel blessed. All I ask, is you do the same for someone else”. I never have done the same for someone else and feel like shit for that! Someday I will but I just couldn’t help wondering why he felt so blessed? In my mind I kept thinking he had life altering news! His wife is in remission from having cancer or maybe he was? Or a kid. It’s crazy why people do things. You shouldn’t question why he did it, just be grateful he did. It’s a sweet and kind gesture this time of year.

My first sentence still applies. We are just discussing what he likely liked is all. It could be anything or everything from the crown of your head to your ankles.

If it was me it might have been your waist because a tight waist makes everything else superb.

The comment on your dress was subterfuge because what he liked was clearly what was in your dress.
