we’ve been talking for like two weeks or something, we weren’t flirting or anything, i wasn’t even mentioning anything romantic or flirty or whatever so i just considered him a friend. today he started being a bit flirty so i started ignoring his flirting attempts, saying stuff like “haha yeah” or something like that. he then texted me “you’re so gorgeous i think i’m in love with you” and so i told him, “i’m sorry, i’m taken”. he replied with an “ok” and proceeded to block me.

did he really want me as his friend? is this normal? i’m so confused.

Guys don't want female "friends." Sure, RARE exceptions exist, but they are quite rare and definitely not the norm. You should assume that any man who is talking to you is doing so AT BEST with romantic intentions, but often with only SEXUAL intentions. None of them are looking for "a friend."

Your girlfriends will tell you this is a lie, because they have guys that they have "friend-zoned" who treat them like friends - but they know that if they called those guys and offered them sex, every single one of them would be right over to collect on it without a moment's hesitation. That's not what FRIENDS do - but these men were never their "friend." They are merely orbiting her, waiting for an opportunity to date (or just sleep with) her.

It's incredibly naïve to think that you can be "just friends" with a guy - if you're even a little bit attractive, that's impossible, or near enough that it might as well be impossible.

Obviously didn't want to be friends. Also it is rude to your partner to not just flat out say you are taken and shut down flirting instead of avoiding it.
