Is there any other way to confirm that the guy I currently dating is really broken up with his former girlfriend?

A guy I had been dating for a while told me that he had broken up with his ex. But I can't fully trust him about that and I want to know not only his side of the story. I also want to know the story of his former girlfriend. I know that girl's social media accounts. I mean, I have access to contact her and ask the straight question. But I just wonder if it's appropriate to go straight and ask. Is there any other way to know for sure? It makes me a little uncomfortable asking girls about these kinds of things. I don't wanna make someone feel bad because of my question. 😢

if you can afford it hire private detective to see where he goes if not getting one of your friends car or have one of your friends follow him around when he’s going out doing a strange late night thing that’s the only way
