Why did he wait to announce his relationship till after my last day?

I had a crush on a guy in my office. We flirted back and forth for about a year. At one point I asked him out because I thought he was just being shy. He told me he didn’t think we were compatible and would have to say no. I respected that and backed off. He started being flirty again. After he said no to the date, I always let him be the one to approach me. I had a job opportunity come up with another company. My last few weeks at work he continued to flirt and find reasons to come by my office. The day after my last day he posted a picture of himself and a girl online. He called her his girlfriend and said they had been dating for a few months. He also changed he relationship status. I feel like the timing of his announcement was not a coincidence. What do you think? He is not a mean person and we got along great as friends. Was he trying to spare my feelings or make me jealous?
