Is having two police assault charges on my record life ruining?

It makes no difference if they don't know about it. If they do know about it, it probably means they care, because it means they did a background check. The large majority of time nobody will know about it unless you tell them. So don't tell anybody.

If I was hiring someone, I wouldn't do a background check. But if I knew about it I wouldn't hire someone who assaulted police unless it was a long time ago.

Stop assaulting police. It speaks VERY poorly of the kind of person you are. You are the one taking the action. Whatever affect is has on your life is entirely your fault.

I didn’t mean it, I flashed them and walked away they got out the van and grabbed me and I lifted a leg and kicked him and. Upon trying to get away I pushed the female cop out of my face and her hat slightly tipped. I didn’t. Mean to hurt them at all I just panicked and wanted space

It doesn't matter if you meant it or not. You still have the charge against you. Also, a charge is not the same as a conviction.

Anyway, just don't tell anyone. There aren't many jobs that will do a background check. And even some that do might not care. But there are some jobs that you might not be able to get.

It certainly hasn't ruined your life, unless you totally had your heart set on a job that you can't get any more. Were you convicted? If so, what were you convicted of?

Depends on a lot of factors and each state varies in laws and tolerance for such acts.


We’re weapons involved? We’re the officers injured? Did you just commit battery outright or was it for the purpose of interfering with an arrest, resisting your own arrest, or even interfering with them performing some critical duty? Did you make a threat before you assaulted them? There are too many variables.


As a general rule, however, it shouldn’t damage your life too much. Unless you want one of those handful of careers that require background checks and/or a clause which allows for certain disqualifications including any conviction of (what is legally known in most states) as “crime of moral turpitude”. Also, understand, charges ARE NOT convictions and if only charged they retain a decent lawyer and fight the changes, as is your right.

Yes, especially if you are trying to land a decent job , trying to pass your background check , you are best to contact an attorney and try to get those charges off of your record , of course it’s going to cost ya money , but your record will more than likely be cleared

It may make it difficult to get some kind of jobs. But it isn't necessarily "life ruining.". Certain jobs require background checks and it's possible these things could ruin your chances of getting them.

You can always have your own business if you're capable of doing that. Although even then, depending on the nature of your legal problems, it could be a hindrance.

If this is about you, you're still young and a lot of people understand that young people make mistakes. So if you keep your nose clean from here forward it doesn't necessarily mean that you won't be able to make a decent life for yourself. Hopefully you've learned something from it and won't make the same mistakes again.

It's one of those things that can be pulled out in a court of law to beat you over the head say in a case where you've been assaulted, accused of assault or even a divorce or child custody case.

Ah. Well, I'm afraid there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. Police are notorious for clinging to amy victimhood they can and policymakers are notorious for etching that victimhood into law. If they are misdemeanors chances are you can just not mention them. But if they are felonies the road ahead is going to be a little narrow. It is sad we have a society that so craves retribution but it's possible you could simply move to an area that doesn't. Seattle, for example, seems pretty chill.

It was my dream to be a lawyer so I was quite heartbroken about the charges just frustrating as I didn’t actually intend to hurt them I just wanted them to back off but you know such is life, my future is what I make it and I know I have the capability to prove myself in other ways

Most employers will be scared off by that sort of thing, yes. Any kind of assault and battery will make it harder to find work. Are the charges still being actively investigated? If you can get the charges dismissed, you should be fine.

I flashed them in feb 2023 and tried to walk away, then got. Out the van grabbed me and put me against the. Wall I asked. If I was. Under arrest they weren’t answering and if. I could go but then I kicked. To get away and tried to push the other one away from me, and they obviously felt. Like they where assaulted so yeah

Certain jobs, some privileges depending on the country or state, in my country and state takes away your gun privileges is a perfect example, you can't buy a firearm, you'd also be judged by people that figure out your background, it can effect even your dating life as well.
