There's one or two mind games going on there with him. What you should have responded with is:-
"Listen to the question! YOU are the one being distant not me, so I gave you the option of space.. I don't need it, because I wasn't the one acting cold!"
So my message was: "i dont like when I overthink and have my moments of anxiety. would it help you to have space until after your promotion?" his exact response was "if you think that it will help you, then sure. if not just let me know because im down with whatever works best for you."
i thought it was a positive sign that he was thinking of my needs, but now I don't know
Your message to him clearly showed you had his best interests at heart. His back to you however? can only be described as passive aggressive!
He doesn't want space... But watch, because usually a woman's instinct isn't too far off. I told a guy he was making excuses to distance himself -- and he was... I could feel it.
What makes you think he wants space. Sometimes as the girlfriend we have to "call it" and make a challenging decision that the guy doesn't want to put into words.
From your description of his response, he's open to taking space... and "blaming" you for it.
