My boyfriend just argued with me and I don't see where I went wrong. He does not like me having guy friends. I have a few guy friends that I sometimes hang around with not one-on-one but in a group setting with other girls and I also have a group chat with them we all come on group calls now and then which has girls in it too. I have grown up with having a big friend group which is mixed and I keep it mutual with them.

Today he blew up on me because I went to the park with my friend group and there were a few guys there. He goes to me that he does not want me to have guy friends am I in the wrong for having guy friends.

Some guys are very insecure about the mere mention of guys and guy friends in your life. It will create some distance between you even if you reassure him a million times that you’re into him and not into any of the guys. He’ll complain that he feels undervalued and while that may be true, he needs to be able to hear and process that you’re into HIM and not into any of these other guys… which he may never to…. So take a close look at your man and if you see a red flag (temper flaring, hedging and distancing, etc.) despite your efforts to put him at ease, then dump him and move on to a guy who is more secure about himself, his masculinity and you.

My partner and I kept all the friends we had prior to our relationship, make or female. We agreed not to make new opposite sex friends unless they’re mutuals, which to me is a fair compromise. Maybe you and him can adopt something like that. If he still is flat out against your male friends then leave him. They were here before him and aren’t the ones giving you ultimatums.

You're not in the wrong if you had the guy friends before you entered into a relationship with him.
However it's inappropriate and not necessary.
