What do you think of the phrase, “Beware the men who warn you.”?

The implication behind the phrase is that the man who warns you “hey, this guy only sees you for sex” or “that guy will treat you like shit” is a man that will do and is thinking of doing those same things to you but knows how wrong it is and wants the woman to see him in a better light than who he really is.

That happens, but it's more the exception than the rule, and I think most people can easily tell the difference.

Here's the bottom line: most women make terrible choices when picking men, overwhelmingly picking men for shallow, short-term reasons and the expense of long-term attributes, and are then surprised when they don't get long-term outcomes. Many girls get so blinded by a guy's looks, money, success, status, or charisma that she actively ignores his many red flags - but guys can see these red flags waving frantically, and will try to open women's eyes to the truth. I've done this probably thousands of times over the years, including for a ton of women I had absolutely zero interest in.

Yes, you might have a guy in your friend zone who warns you of these things out of obvious self-interest, but you almost always know to begin with that he is attracted to you and wants to be with you, and you should be able to see right though him (even though his warnings are often completely true). But this is more the exception than the rule. I've warned girls who were perfect strangers, who I knew nothing about and had no interest in, about obvious red flags in some guy she was talking to, and I've seen other guys do the same.

This is exactly why, for centuries, potential partners would have to be vetted by the girl's family (and often the guy's family too) - because then you have a father, brothers, and maybe uncles who were all looking to protect the girl but who had no ulterior motives for her. Without such men to vet potential partners, most girls frankly do a terrible job on their own, and their results are there for all to see. A smart woman would welcome the input of a trusted man, and would take his advice seriously, because she would understand that his advice was designed to help her WIN in the long run, even if it meant having to pass on some attractive guy today.

Until someone speaks and begins to let you know who they are, what they’re about, and what their intentions might be by doing so, don’t trust them until you know or have an idea of what their motives might be.
A dog that doesn’t bark isn’t doing what it should be doing since dogs will bark at anything, anytime, but especially when it’s supposed to be protecting the home or it’s owners.

If he's warning you about somebody else, he may be doing it to eliminate competition, or he may be sincere. Consider both possibilities. If he's warning you about himself, take it as gospel.

Seems reasonable. If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery then projection is the most sincere form of self depreciation.

Id say use your own judgement but be aware. If you notice he treats other people like family, mom, co workers or even a server at a restaurant like crap than for sure that into consideration. Watch how people react with them
