Is he being over-protective?

I know this may seem silly, but never had this experience. So I went to grab a knife to cut a jumbo freeze in half as my boyfriend and I were going to split one he then says "Just use the scissors, that's what they are for" but almost in like a mad/irritated tone so is he being "protective" if my safety or he is being kinda ocd? Either way the scissors worked better than I thought and I let it go. Just curious why he got like that over it. Thanks

I don't think it's overprotection or OCD. I think you're overthinking it, reading too deep about a simple reaction he had. He probably felt like it was just more common sense to use scissors and was irritated that you weren't thinking like that.

If it was a one off comment probably nothing but if he often does this you might want to suggest that if you want an opinion from him you will give him one

That's true, it's no big deal was only using it to cut it in half and I didn't think the scissors would work that good for that, I usually use scissors to cut the tip, but these are kitchen scissors so they ended up working better than I thought they would
