Actually now that I look into it: it looks like he’s the one wanting to start conversations mostly by “god morning” or “how are you” but that’s boring, it doesn’t really lead to anything

I’m stop talking to him because we live in two different countries, I don’t want to give myself false hope

He could think either of those things. It just depends on his view of everything. He could think that you have lost interest or he might think you are playing hard to get. The one way to know for sure is if he keeps messaging and reaching out to you. Then he is still interested and probably assumes you are playing hard to get. If he just stops messaging then he probably assumes that you lost interest and he will likely move on. The better question is why play games like that. If you are interested don't play hard to get. That is a recipe for disaster if you like the guy because he very well may think you lost interest. If you aren't interested in him then let him know instead of leading him on. Either way it is immature to just stop talking to someone to play a middle school game of hard to get or not being courteous and just saying you aren't interested.

Why in the world would you have to keep starting every conversation? If that’s what’s going on then he’s not interested. A good man doesn’t get all precious about reaching out to his girl.

If you consistently have to start conversations then he's probably not playing games he just doesn't like you that much or he has a lot of other people messaging him. If you stop messaging him then he won't talk to you at all anymore. That's my guess anyway. I don't believe someone can actually simulate the texting behaviors of someone with a higher value than them long term successfully. I don't try to do it anyway if I enjoy talking to someone then I'll talk to them more. I would take things at face value rather than overthink it, that's usually the better option. So if he's never texting you first he's not thinking about you and not interested in you.

It should be an equal effort so if you're always writing first you should back off. You shouldn't need to keep score about who writes first the most, it should feel equal
