Why do ugly men have big egos?

I have yet to meet a man who'd have an oversized ego. I did meet a few with big egos, but they always had some traits that supported the size of their egos. Though admittedly, it was mostly "being canonically attractive". However, those men who are not attractive but still didn't allow their ego to shrink too much have probably successfully found some more important virtues in themselves that allow them to retain their pride (not that they have some, as all men do have some virtues, some are simply too gaslighted by the "modern" Western society to discover them).

It might be because they generally have to make more of an effort to attract women than guys that are considered more traditionally attractive. Thus they've spent more time developing their personalities, humor, and other abilities to attract women, which in turn grows their confidence. That's why unfortunately a lot of attractive guys have bowls of cereal in their heads and can't hold a conversation. They overly rely on their looks and never bother to develop any sort of substance. Then women wonder why they "can't ever find any good men".

Define ugly? My ex was short and wasn't great looking but to me he was handsome and I loved him a lot.. But turned out that ex had NPD and now I see him as the ugly wretched soul destroying bastard he is..

some men who don't have the gym bod Hollywood actor chiseled jaw looks so they have to work harder to gain a mate. A bit like women.. That's why we use makeup and clothes.

doesn't mean anyone is ugly but means we have to work harder to secure the best mate for us whether male or female
