Texts me, friendly one on one, ignores me in groups?

I've known this guy for almost 2 years, and I have a crush on him. We hang out one on one here and there, mostly going to shows, and he initiates texting with me. Nothing romantic has happened though. But then, in group settings with other friends, I feel like he makes eye contact with everyone but me, and practically ignores me? Why is he doing that?
