I told him I couldn’t keep playing games and I overheard he was talking about me to EVERYONE CONSTANTLY both positive and negative. I told him I couldn’t do this anymore and he just started crying and ran back inside but now it’s been over a year and he tried contacting me through other people

Crying when you confronted him about hurting you is super manipulative. Like what, was he trying to make you comfort HIM? So not okay. And the constant talking behind your back is such junior high behavior.

If it was me, I'd leave him in the past where he belongs. You deserve a mature relationship with open communication, not all that he said-she said mess.
