Confused, am I the problem?

So a guy had taken me for an expensive weekend break. We met whilst I was working overseas and have known each other about a year. He spent around 4000$ and could not do enough for me (this isn’t about money, just was very grateful!) After the trip, he immediately text me to check I made my flight, that he also arranged. We were in pretty much constant contact since, but I am a criminally bad texter. It’s not a reflection of how I am in person. I just don’t really vibe with texts. Anyway, he responded to a message with a tricky reply, that I wasn’t sure how to respond to (maybe slightly closed) I have left him on read and now I’m like argh, am I the problem, and is he seriously interested?

What is the tricky reply? You seem like you don't know how to communicate properly, like someone else said why not just call him and clear things up?

Why not just call him, if you're not good at texting make that known and the longer you wait the longer this guy is going through anguish, best to get it over with and be honest.
