So me and this guy dated for about a month, I think because of me being quite closed off he suggested we might be just friends. We still talk everyday, he’s super flirty at times and we’re going on a trip this weekend.
However, he unmatched me on tinder after we joked a while back that it’s too late for that. I know he updated his profile.
Am I reading too much into it thinking he didn’t want me seeing he updated his profile? But since we’re just friends this shouldn’t matter right?

I honestly don’t know what the heck goes through the minds of women like yourself. You act under the guise of friendship, when you know beneath it all you don’t really want such a casual relationship where you also run the risk of being used for sex, which may inevitably happen on this trip. No this is not a projection on my part, it’s reading the freaking room. Straight men do not intentionally nurture casual, platonic friendships with straight women. Not when they’ve only just met them on a literal dating app and keep flirting with them. For you to even engage in such loneliness and naivety is just sad.
I appreciate your opinion but I have male friends where it’s strictly platonic. This particular man has strictly platonic female friends. The trip was planned for a while before the friendship talk and we both agreed to go ahead with it.
All I was asking is if he’s keeping an open mind about this situation or not. I have no issue being just friends with him as I think he’s a great guy. I just didn’t want to miss out on something because I was holding back.
You aren't reading into too much at all; that's exactly what happened. Because you are a closed off person, he thanks you want something less than he wants, so he's ending the connection to avoid wasting anyone's time or energy.
We had the conversation about what we want but I know I probably didn’t give him the right signals (he said I was difficult to read). I’m confused about the unmatching? If he only sees it as a friendship why did he bother doing that? Or has he left the door open to something more maybe?
He unmatched you for the exact reason I told you before. He wants something different from what you want. He doesn't want to waste his or your time. He doesn't want to be friends with you if he saw romantic potential with you.
It's the exact same reason women impulsively/reflexively block guys in the same situation.
