I'm actually a good cook, as long as it isn't anything that splatters. That hurts when hot grease splatters on my genitals! Some times I forget to wear clothes when I cook.

I'm a good cook myself and I know more men than women who are good cooks. It's women today who can't cook.

@ManOnFire Cheers brother. I think it's sad how most women today have turned their backs on cooking. Cooking good food is an important skill and a way to show love for loved ones. Most women can't do that anymore, which is sad.

I learned, I've many successful dishes. Baking though, that is an art, especially desserts. I don't do that.

My mother never would let me in the kitchen to learn how to cook. She was always worried I would make a mess and not clean it up. I’m now 46 and still don’t know how to cook. I know how to make ramen in the package on the stove, stove top stuffing is the easiest fastest food in the world. I know how to make Mac and cheese from the box. I know how to make brownies, blueberry muffins from the box. Some frozen pizzas I bake in the oven backfire even when I follow the instructions to the letter. But as far as actually following a recipe from a cookbook…. it just doesn’t work for me. I even wanted to be a chef after watching food network programs. Everything backfired when I tried a culinary degree. I nearly cut two of my fingers off when my chef teacher was timing me on a test to chiffonade a lettuce leaf. He kept telling me to raise my knife higher and he had his iPhone on stopwatch in front of me. But in a way I got my revenge - he claimed nothing made him wince. Well when that knife went across my two left fingers…my knife was so sharp I didn’t even feel anything. I saw him look down and intensely wince. I looked down and saw my fingers start bleeding and I looked back at him in shock and he was still wincing! I was thinking at that time - Ha you lying son of a bitch - you claimed all this time nothing made you wince and This is making you wince! Ah it felt good to have double edged revenge! Because about 2-3 seconds later that’s when I felt the air hitting the cut areas of my fingers, and then the blood started flowing. It hurt! And I actually censored myself - I don’t know why but I yelled out Holy jiminy jumping jackrabbits! (Yeah I know where did I come up with that?). I ran to the sink and washed and rinsed my hands and I’m not sure if I or someone else put bandages across my fingers but I sure got dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out leaning on the door way. Needless to say I failed the test and unfortunately I had to drop the class. Baking class was more forgivable. We all had to draw from a hat - the pie we had to make. I had to make a pecan pie. The recipe called for light or clear karo syrup but we were out. I used the dark one and I made two pies from scratch. To my amazement including my baking instructor - they came out perfectly! We all had to taste each other’s pies and one pie practically disappeared with the other students. It felt good to finally get something right. However…my family and I don’t like pecan pie at all. Even though I was doing pretty good in that class…I had to drop the whole culinary degree altogether. To this day, I will not even attempt to cook any meats because I don’t trust myself with them. I’m afraid I will give myself or worse someone else food poisoning or kill them because it’s still raw. I would love to know how to grill and barbecue like everyone seems to do. Sadly…. i don’t think it will ever happen 💔😞

Many men do not get exposure to this or their parents are not so strict.

Usually, fathers teach their sons to do household chores but this is not happening now I guess.

I know how to cook. It started when my parents used to give me vegetables to cut while they were busy at work. So I knew how to use a knife since childhood.
Then when the temple priest and volunteered cooks were cooking for 400-500 people, they would see us playing outside and call us to help. So I had seen the cooking process.
Then one day I was hungry and I cooked something. And from then on I cooked whatever came to my mind, one after the other. Then it became a habit

Loaded question with the assumption that men can't cook.

Next time you're in a restaurant... just take a quick look in the kitchen. I doubt you're going to see any chicks. Plus my wife is a professional cook, and I cook better than she ever will.

How come men can't learn how to cook or bake?

Really? If you look in the kitchen of any 20 restaurants in your city, you will find men out numbering women by about 10:1. My girlfriend, who enjoys cooking, will be the first to tell you that I out-cook her, and definitely out-bake her. Many women I dated in the past could barely cook a frozen pizza.

Now, many women are fantastic cooks, and I give them all the credit in the world, but there are plenty of people of both genders that struggle in the kitchen.

Now, I know cakes aren't exactly difficult, but at least I can make something above and beyond a basic cake with frosting.

How come men can't learn how to cook or bake?
A cake for a friend's birthday. He's big into Dungeons & Dragons. I'm far from an artist, but I think I didn't do terribly.

How come men can't learn how to cook or bake?
This was my nephew's birthday cake from about 8 years ago. With frosted sugar cookie pigs. At least I had some artwork I could follow and didn't have to try to create my own.

How come men can't learn how to cook or bake?

And these aren't either baked or original (I saw them in an online pic and decided to make some of my own), but they're just appropriate for the season and kind of fun, so I threw them in. Only I hadn't put the eyes on yet (DOH!). It's Oreos, mini Reese's, and a melted Hershey's kiss for the head since I couldn't find malt balls, and with candy corn feathers and beak.

There's men that do know how to cook & bake, some of the greatest chefs in the world are men. The ones who don't learn are the ones who want the traditional wife to do all the cooking & cleaning & don't want to learn stuff that's required when you live on your own.

Some do. I have a friend who his mom really wanted girls but never hot them. She only had 2 boys. But he said that because she didn't have the daughters she taught her sons how to bake. Now the one bakes and he makes pretty good stuff! He even made these cool cookies for a bake off.

We can learn, and I know the rudiments of cooking and baking. My wife refuse to eat anything I make, which means she does all the cooking.

Before blaming the guys, would you please take a look at yourself, and realize that maybe you don't want your guy to cook and bake.

We guys are simple creatures. If you girls want to do all teh cooking and baking, go right ahead, it's fine with us.

Most professional chefs are usually men but if your talking about in general I'll use myself as am example then I'm more like I'm too lazy to cook. To cook a good meal It can take 2+ Hours to cook and as a uni student I'd rather cook something that's quick to prepare and has a lot of protein which is why me and my friends buy a lot of eggs and meat pretty much.

My dad can bake like cookies, cakes though it's mainly recipes from books he bought. Everyone loves his cookies and cakes when he was able to make them for special occasions. It definitely makes wish I could bake as women would love deserts. Cooking I can cook basic things like burgers, eggs, bacon, chorizo never tried anything fancy cause I never wanted to learn. I just don't trust myself in a kitchen and hate the clean up part.

Because when they do they become master chefs and women will get jealous 😂 seriously though the vast majority of great chefs throughout history have been men, women are just the ones that cook more often for domestic reasons.

In general men aren't really interested in cooking or baking and therefore we a don't put enough effort into it to be able to learn it properly.

Men are better cooks than women. Pretty much everything women do, men can do better. It all stems from biology: men are stronger, faster, more intelligent and do not suffer from biological defects like women do e. g. menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, quadrillion auto immune diseases, chronic diseases, etc.

A lot of men cook. But with the ones who refuse, they like weaponizing their incompetence. They are perfectly capable of learning how to cook but they act like they can’t so it forces their partners to do it for them

It's not that they can't it's that they don't feel the need to

I do cook using the burners and oven, grill, and bake. I also do the necessary prep. It is easy.

I know how to cook. Because I’m independent and had to learn how to cook my own meals/meal prep
