Guys, Do guys feel hurt if ex refuses to stay friends?

Assuming this guy and girl in their 30s were dating for a bit over a month and the guy decided to not continue but offered to stay friends. Will his ego be hurt if the girl refuses to stay friends?

Most men aren’t going to care. A lot of us can screw a girl then move on, never see her the rest of our life and we’re ok. The only reason I could think he would ask that is if he’s going to try to nail you later on down the road, or he doesn’t want to seem like that bad guy if he broke up w you. The only way I could see a man getting his feelings hurt if she didn’t accept is friendship is if she broke up w him and he still had feelings for her. Other than that men will just move on. There’s of women out there, one hotter than the other.

Well it certainly depends on the type of guy but in my opinion it shouldn’t hurt his ego like he was the one who left her so she has no duty to be a friend and furthermore its just a month of dating not too much to form a friendship or bond so they are nore close to strangers then friends at best yhey could be called acquaintances

Thanks for sharing your opinion. He has a big and fragile ego. When I politely indicated that I didn’t want to stay friends, he did get sad but when I tried to convince him to reconsider his decision, he didn’t want to but said “may be I’ll change in a few months and that’s when it will happen”. I wanted to ask you though, for someone like him who has a big ego, will my initial refusal to stay friends stop him from reaching out to me in future? Could he think “she didn’t want to stay friends so I will look so desperate if i message her”?

Well if he is smart he would understand that since you said to him to reconsider he would get it as a sign that you are fine and are interested in you two being in a relationship or dating so if he would get that then it wouldn’t be a problem to reach you in the future thinking like that but another problem is that if months pass well honestly I would feel unsure whether or not to contact again thinking that maybe she isn’t interested in me anymore and time has passed but depending on what type of girl you are and how your relationship so far worked like he might feel safe or comfortable to reach you again

I was always very nice to him. When I saw him last, I don’t know why but I told him “I’ll take 2-3 months to cool off and to forget you”. This was actually 4 months ago. He and I met in a dating app and after the break up, I left the chat with him open and he also left it as it was. But exactly on 4 months mark since the last time I met him, he unmatched me on the dating app. By unmatching, what he did is that he closed the chat he and I had and now he and I can’t message each other and can’t see each others profile. It seems to me that he waited for me. I would really like to know what you think about it? He and I had shared our phone numbers also

Well at 4 months he didn’t unmatch you because he waited for you like that is a partial truth as during the 4 months he just left it open in any case but after 4 months he unmatched you to simply move on from you in the app and/or move on from you but since you exchanged your numbers then if he doesn’t contact you and you are lets say curious about him you can try messaging him for holidays or events like Christmas/New Year and such so nothing much just a greeting so that way he will feel like you teo are in touch and if it crosses his mind he will find it way easier to contact you rather than if he had to break the ice after a long time he would be more hesitant
