Question

Long story short I’ve been on Facebook Dating just to see what’s out there. I came across a guy with a really weird profile picture which looked like he was being bit by a crocodile. I was curious but the only way to message him was to match with him so I did and asked him for context of his profile picture. He said it was a joke. Okay cool I got my answer. I did engage in a bit of small talk with him as I wasn’t actually interested in him. He then asked what I do for work and I said I’m in the process of job searching. His response was “Can you come clean my house once a week then?” I immediately declined. He insisted we meet up but he was out of the country at the time and said I would have to go to him. That was not an option for me. The conversation went nowhere so I just unmatched him.

The part I don’t get is why would he ask a girl he doesn’t know to clean his house once a week after 2 minutes of talking after finding out she’s job searching? I felt like it was just pure laziness and an excuse to not do your own housework. I work with computers, I’m not a personal maid. I’m still a bit confused by that dude and I’m glad I don’t have to deal with him anymore.

Being that you don't really know a lot about the guy I'm only going to take a guess at why he said that. The first thing that comes to mind is maybe that was his way of trying to "throw you a bone" since you are currently searching for a job. I know that seems odd and to me it is but he could have been making the gesture because he thought you'd appreciate the income while you were job hunting. I don't know why else he would say that upon first meet. I personally wouldn't do it even if I needed the cash because that could be a potentially dangerous situation being in his house and not really knowing him. I would say this is a hard pass on this guy and move on.
