Shows interest, but doesn’t ask me out?

Mutual friend of my close friend has recently asked about me. Like who am I dating , who have I dated and what my type is. Our conversation , he has asked about my interest and hobbies. Nothing out of the ordinary. Recently, he has casually tried calling me Baby, my love and my queen during our conversation.
question is : why doesn’t he ask me out on a date if he shows interest.
