Why does he hesitate to ask me out?

My crush and I met up to practice swimming and we left together and he walked me out to my car. We were saying goodnight and he hesitated like he was going to finally ask me out on a date but then he instead just said goodnight and started to walk away then turned around and asked me if I was going to be at work on Monday and when I said yes he told me he would be working with me on Monday and I told him that I would see him Monday and that was it. Why didn't he ask me out, he always gets really close but then stops. How can I give him the push he needs to finally ask or should I just ask him to make it easier?

He could be quite shy or nervous, or might not be sure about how you feel about him. If he doesn't ask you soon I would suggest asking him. :)

You should ask him out yourself. It's much easier, and you are pretty much guaranteed to succeed if he likes you back.
