Most guys will you tell everyone that they are fine but that's because they assume nobody really cares about their problems or they simply don't wanne bother anyone with their bullshit

A lot of guys are carefull before opening up to a woman because some woman really take advantage of their weakness instead of being being supportive

If you want a guy to open up to you...
You really have to make sure that you support him during that moment otherwise he will shut down again on you again and most likely never will open up again to you

it typically means he's not fine but he wants to deal with it by himself. you can offer support but make that optional for him, not compulsory.

you know women love to spill the beans and just lay out every aspect of a problem letting others do the work of connecting the pieces. men like do do that part by themself, sort themself out. and when they feel they understand what the problem even exactly is and they have thought about solutions themself first but didn't quite find a good one, then they typcially approach with requests for support.
