A Guy Friend Will Repeatedly Compare Himself to Another Guy to Me. Is This a Sign of Interest/Why Is He Doing This?

My guy friend is very tall. Whenever there is a similarly tall guy around he will comment to me that he this guy isn’t as tall as he is or ask me what I think. I am always polite and tell my guy friend he is taller, but it’s kinda weird for him to say to me.

i don’t know why. he is very tall, but whenever i mention someone being really tall he’ll say is he as tall as me or something similar.
