He got upset he didn't get a paragraph for his birthday saying I put no effort and I don't value him?

He got upset cause I only sent 'Happy Birthday 🎂' on his birthday. He reacted with a thumbs up emoji it was Sunday so I assumed he was at church and couldn't type much. The whole day goes by 5 pm comes I text him I get no response but the message delivered. After an hour I called him, he answered. I asked if he was home from church he said no. He didn't wanna do anything for his birthday he doesn't make it a big deal I asked him multiple times what he wanted to do. I got him a gift after I managed to put some cash together and I hoped it would get here before but It didn't. I asked how his birthday was going he said he was home all day he didn't sound to be in a good mood so I asked what was up, he said his day was shitty and I was making it shittier so I said okay that's fine. i gave him his space he finally response to my text then started sending me tiktoks so I figured things worked out. I go to sleep I wake up calling my happy birthday text bullshit and he expected more effort. Last year he wanted to spend his birthday with his kid I said okay. I got him an invictus watch, a new wallet, a massage gun and this curry seasoning thing he said he and his mom like. For my birthday he loaned me a book. Yh u read that right loaned not buy. I was grateful for it. I got him cologne just because cause I try to do just because gifts. For my birthday I just wanted dinner and pair of sneakers I told him this. On the day, I met him at the bakery and I picked out the cake and what I wanted on it. Then he had something to do so I went to the cafe and ordered for us waited an hour with the food for him he come back. We ate went to the museum, then we got boba, then I got my gifts two perfumes I have 50 perfumes at home but I was grateful I even got the card he bought framed its the first thing i wake up too. The perfumes are unopened. I understand him wanting a paragraph but he shouldn't question my effort.

We talked a bit more and he shared it wasn't the paragraph butbthe lack of effort. He said his friends sent jokes and stuff and called to chitchat and all a that abd hevwas just expecting more from me and felt like I didn't value but he talks about his birthday like it's every other day and it's no big deal abd I was really excited and counted down the days to his birthday I texted and say 22 days until ur bdaay since march started even tho Ik he'd want to spend it with his kid like last year.

And I'd get to see him a few days after that's how it was the first two years and I didn't. mind his kid was here before I was and all of that. But I didn't withhold any of my love for him because it, I'd note down his likes or dislikes or stuff he saw was cool and I'd go out of my way to save towards something he liked. He spends his birthday at home alone cause he doesn't want to be bothered or having fun with his kid I have never spent his bday with him so a quit text seemed like the best
