How would you feel if your girlfriend cared more about her dog than you?

I have a very close relationship with my dog whom I’ve had for 11yrs. She has been there through so many challenging experiences in life, and there’s just no way to replace that history together.

My partner says they are okay and accept that, but sometimes I get the impression that it’s upsetting to them I love her so. Sometimes they make comments that she is more important to me than they are. And I want to tell them that isn’t true, but I don’t know that it isn’t and so I’ve not been able to say that to them.

It wouldn’t bother me if my partner loved their dog more than me. But I’m curious how others would feel about it?
