Would you break up with someone if your pet doesn’t like them? Why/why not?

I kind of have the opposite problem - I've had girls whose pets seemed to like me more than she did! Lol.
I used to install satellite TV systems and now I'm an Audio Video Integrator, so I work in other people's homes nearly every day, and almost all of them have pets. Cats and dogs are the most common by far, but we have rural customers with horses, raccoons, snakes, lizards, deer, birds, alpacas, and even ostriches.
Years ago, we were installing DirecTV out in the woods, and the customer had a young horse in a paddock that ran the length of the house. I would cluck at it when I walked by, and over time, it got closer and closer to the fence line. Eventually it came over and sniffed my hand, and a couple more passes and I was petting its head, and soon was rubbing its ears. By this time, it was following me as I moved the length of the house running cables.
We finish the job, and as we were leaving, the customer saw me go up to the horse, and was shocked that it leaned over the fence to be pet. Apparently it was a rescue horse that had been abused and didn't trust anyone, and even the owner struggled with it, and they couldn't believe that I had won its trust, especially in such a short amount of time. But I've always had a good rapport with animals.
Hahaha no my cats a bit of an asshole anyway so I don’t care what he thinks
Well dogs can sense good character. All dogs I meet always like me. I would find it sus if a dog doesn't like a person. It might mean you're a horrible person or they think you're ugly 🤷♀️
Yeah.
I've had my pet longer than I've dated the new person.
My pet takes precedent.
It's easier to get a new partner who doesn't piss off my pet than to abandon my pet.

I have one cat - Uncle Thunder - who is an old gentleman cat, and he really likes my fiancée. He stays outside during the day and comes in at night or when it is raining. When my fiancée is outside, he follows her around and talks to her constantly.
So. . . I don't have that problem.
If my pet doesn't like my partner, that's okay... they can learn to get along.
If my pet bites or claws my partner, injures them, and I really like my partner, I'll look for another home for my pet.
The only time I would break up is of my partner was violent towards the pet, as an instigator.
No that is silly , and a lame excuse not to continue seeing someone , Animal instincts have nothing to do with human instincts An animal can dislike someone because of facial hair or the color of the shirt they are wearing , so I wouldn’t stop dating a girl if my dog didn’t like her , I would try to get my dog to accept her over anything , People that choose animals over humans is a fucking weirdo in my book , An animal is not really supposed to be a pet an animals’ true instincts is to be out in nature there instincts are to survive like humans instincts are to survive , Nobody should be choosing a pet over a human period , People that choose pets over humans have a couple screws loose in their heads that they should seek therapy for , don’t get me wrong I love animals and think they can be fun to have as a pet but I would never choose a pet over a human unless that human was trying to attack me or harm me , then I will let my dog tear them the fuck up , but if a person is being nice and caring to me I would not allow my dog to attack them period , People that say they would save their pet before saving someone else’s life are mentally fucking insane and need shock therapy or some shit
I'm not a pet owner, but I do have two quick stories:
I went to a woman's house for the first time for dinner, we had gone out one other time, so things were new. Not ten seconds after I walked in her door her stupid dog fucking bites me!
Met a woman for drinks etc she tells me that I have to meet her AND her dog at a neutral location before I come to her house to 'make sure her dog approves of me' Says "yeah she will probably bite you the first time, but that's normal"
What the actual fuck?
I see things this way, if I own a dog, and it causes problems with a partner and doesn't get along and constantly nipping her or growling and showing its teeth, I will have to find a new home for the dog. I always had female dogs because they don't lift their leg, but this little Maltese named Marilyn Monroe bit me one time and brought blood, sometimes these dogs can be a problem we just never know. But I will not go around putting up with a dog that bites a partner… I guess USA President Biden has a German Shepherd named "Commander" goes around biting White House Aids and Staff, and he may have to find him a new home, so who knows. Time will only tell, but no one wants to get rid of a dog, but sometimes it happens.
@Pinay_ako Breaking up is my last choice, I would talk things over with her, and we would work together to make decisions on what we should do. And what we should do about the situation.
You'd have to be a real shit brisket for a dog to not like you. Even the one's that would bite you because they are trained to defend a perimeter, will smile and wag their tail at you the next day if you are a half way decent person to them for like a minute or two.
Dogs can be jealous of affection between you. Cats just want to watch the sex.
I'm skeptical of people who don't have a pet or aren't capable of forging a relationship with a cat or a dog. It means they are not relationship oriented. My cat runs down stairs when his human friends visit and is at the door for them.
One of my exes made a sexual move on a dog right in front of me. That was pretty much about the time I severed all contact with her. I could tolerate her having a Tom Hiddleston porn stash. But bestiality? Not okay!
@Guffrus : It wasn't even her dog.
@Guffrus : Nine years later, she tried to add me back on Facebook, and couldn't understand why I refused. Like I'd want her after that stunt? She's nuts!
🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
It just shows how dam stupid 54 % of USA pet owners are , and the trouble is they try to humanise the animal , I have news for you -- a dog is actually a DOG ! Lets keep it that way , how fcking stupid are some?
@spartan55 exactly mate , a dog / cat / bird , whatever , you harm the animal if you try to humanise , idiotic to the MAX !
I dont have pets but my boyfriend has a dog and she seems to like me so far but if she didn't and I felt uncomfortable, I wouldn't continue with the relationship.
No, Mook doesn't like anyone, even me. He likes to fuss spit & wrastle, just like some women i know :p This is a pic of him with me on the porch. I have lilac, honeysuckle & blue wysteria I nurture. I lure wild blue jays down each morning & he stays on my lap, gets super excited. He's my baby:)
I lose interest in the person once i find out they’re a pet owner anyways so ig its only fair 🤷♀️
The pet isn't going away and at an absolute minimum I don't want the daily drama of them not getting along every time she comes over.
if they didn't like my pet then they don't like animals and i can't deal with people who don't like animals like what is wrong with you. thankfully i'm with someone that likes dogs and cats
but if my pets didn't like my partner then i wouldn't think much of it
Pets have a good sense, they know bad when they see bad
Maybe new girlfriend. I don't think people are honest in these surveys.
No, my cat does not have a say. I don't limit what cats he can't have sex with.
African hray parrots and tucan birds usually imprint on their owners and treat others like shit because of jelousy, even members of their own species.
No. My pet just has to deal with them being around.
It would raise a red flag for sure. Especially dogs. Dogs are smart and can sniff out suspicious people.
Quite possibly.
I would give it some time and see how it goes first, otherwise sorry this isn't going to work out
I am on the other side of this; I would break up with someone who has a pet. As I am allergic to cats and dogs.
If my companion animal doesn't like 'em... there is something wrong there...
A good fur parent should not have this issue. The fur baby should love everyone if they’re raised right.
No, pets show distress in a strangers presence just like some people are shy. It's normal, some animals just don't trust everyone
That's a very hard line to answer. Really don't know. Having a cat would want her to expect liking cats as well.
Hello,
So, I don't want you to misunderstand and answer this question, I want to say something like that, I'm giving an example, I'm afraid of dogs, the woman I'm going to marry also has a dog, so personally, Sevgi, I wouldn't want to have a dog. I don't find it
.
Of course i would end it. My pet comes before any person
If somebody didn't like rex I would be bummed
This is how a lot of women are going to end up dying alone.
My boys are gone now, but yes, I would have ended it if they did not like the girl.
I probably should find out why my pet doesn't like them. If it is my penthouse pet then the reason is obvious 🙂
I am sure. You got it though. I am glad someone did.
Thanks for like!
What a petty thing to break a relationship up for.
yes, dogs have a good sense of people’s energy and vibe.
Yes, bc dogs have good sense of people and their true intentions
That is something I never had a problem with.
Depends on the level of dislike.
I am glad his dog loves me haha
I am not an American but still
The dog knows.
Yeap
Just.. train the pet.. So, no..
Nah lol. And my dog likes everybody anyway
Nope.
My pets are too well trained.
Except for the horse... he don't like anyone.
For sure
Yeah
Possible
