Girls, Why are some men clueless when it comes to women and their emotions?

I think it comes down to how men bond with each other differently than women do with each other but here are some key things to know…

1. Women (like anyone) often want to be heard and understood, not “solved.” Trying to offer quick solutions can come off as dismissive. What helps is listening attentively and asking “Do you want me to just listen, or help you think it through?”

2. Saying “That makes sense,” or “I can see why you’d feel that way” goes a long way. Emotional safety grows when a woman feels that her emotions are allowed and respected, even if they don’t immediately make logical sense to the man.
3. Emotions can be intense, but they are often temporary. What helps is not panicking or taking them personally. Stay present, even if the emotional wave is strong.

4. If she’s ever vulnerable with you, never weaponize it in an argument later. That destroys trust.
5. Emotions can be a girls biggest strength (nurturing, compassionate, loving, empathetic, confidence etc.) but also biggest enemy or vice (low self esteem, depressed, prideful, manipulative etc.) However, everyone- men and women-are capable of these qualities or emotions (good/bad) it often just matters how much self control and awareness someone has.

Also women’s hormones fluctuate in 4 different stages each month which impacts our stress, motivation, energy, and mood. Giving us support, patience, and space to process helps a lot.

What has stood out to me in any relationship and especially with men is when they genuinely want to “figure us out and know us”. Asking, “How did you feel when this happened or when I said this?” means so much. Asking “How are you feeling? instead of how are you? might change things up a bit.
