How do you know if you got rejected?

A cute guy came into my job. My manager (he's gay) and I were looking at him. He told me the guy would be cute for me, and I said, "I know, right." My manager offered to ask him if he was single. I rang him up—he was really nice. My manager called him over and asked if he was seeing anyone. My manager winked towards me while asking him, the guy smiled at me, and I walked away. He said he wasn't seeing anyone. My manager got excited for me and ran after him outside to ask for his number, and the guy said he didn't have a phone, lol. It honestly felt like he was rejecting me.

I don’t think he’ll reject it maybe the guy rejected it because he’s new at the job and thinks there shouldn’t be a romantic relationship at the workplace.
