Guys, What do you do to show someone the gal you're bringing is just a friend/colleague?

You're going to an event hosted by a gal you've been trying to impress and she gives you two free tickets for helping her out... You keep saying you don't have anyone to bring bc you want to be with HER... and finally cave, inviting your brother... and then (stalling till the day of) say "My friend [girl's name] too".

(I don't know why he stalled. It's just another gal. We needed to balance the attendance out so the event doesn't end up being a giant sausage fest...)

Your thoughts?

I'll probably just ntroduce her as a friend of my brother's. Make a joke about how shitty my brother was for cancelling last minute, but at least the other girl was able to tag along.

After that, I'd probably make sure to not perforn any actions that may be misconstrued as affectionate, so don't take her coat, don't pulll the chair out for her, don't socialize with her too intently. I know its not very nice to do that but she's literally endangering my chances by being there. Sorry...

The brother's coming, which I would have suggested bc the guy is supposed to have two comped tickets. But he asked to add the brother, then hours later oddly also added to include "his friend"... the girl.

I, my apologies, should have read it over a second time before responding. Hmm, okok so that girl is his friend and we know this to be true, but I would still consider the possibility that she might be the brother's friend which should be fine. However if the girl is really just a friend of his, it'll be pretty obvious though right? In all likelihood he wouldn't exercise the same level of courtesy that might be afforded to his crush. So; again, he might not do simple gentlemanly things like pulling out the chair for her, helping with her coat or her bag. Offering a hand if she's going down some stairs, since she's in heels.

If he is truly infatuated by his crush, there is no reason why he would try to jeopardize his chances. Unless of course he's trying to play games.

As to why he stalled, I'm not sure, I don't know, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he had no clue who to invite, maybe the addition of the female friend was a spur of the moment decision. So, he wasn't being considerate about the issues the girl was facing. Not a good look either haha.

I don't really do anything. If someone asks, I just say we're not dating and if a guy asks if they're my partner I'd say she's free to go for. I don't know how I'd bring that up in public without being super awkward about it. Like "Hey guys just making sure you know this is my friend. We're not dating." 😂😂😂

It was. Turned out she's married with kids. (I'm not asking about the details there... she's trying to schmooze with him and his "level" person to get new clients.) I didn't like that he did that.

That honestly sounds hard. I'd do everything in my power to be near her, talk to her, focus on her. If I were in that situation. I'd also be direct with her. I've learned over the years that failing to voice tour desires leads to desires being unfulfilled.

If I wanted to fly solo, I’ll fly solo. Don’t give two shades of shot how many tickets are thrown my way. Maybe I would give someone my spares to bring whoever they desire but me … I like going solo and see what is there to fish from the waters.
