I've noticed in such situations a lot of drivers tuck their elbows, even breathing out, in an attempt to make their car smaller.
So are you an elbow tucker?

I just pray nothing will come in the other direction, especially a lorry or coach, or I'll be practicing my reversing.
It works every time, I must have contacts in high places.
Being a cyclist I do have to tuck my elbows in, especially going through restriction gates, otherwise I would bash them, and my elbows would then be very sore.
But some drivers do like to be very friendly with our elbows, though we cyclists want Girls and Guys contacts not with their wing mirrors.
When I "drive" my bike on those narrow roads, I am more or less forced to tuck my elbows and arms in to avoid those drivers that don't seem to want to pay attention to cyclists on those country roads.
As a cyclist, you are always a loser in case of a close up with oncoming (or overtaking) cars, lorries or vans.
You never know in which health condition you return home or if you even return. Until now, luckily I have never been taken for a ride by a side mirror of a car overtaking me. A helmet is a must but it does not protect your elbows 🤭
The problem is it's near impossible to safely overtake a cyclist on country roads. There's either not enough room to squeeze past if there is then there's always cars coming in the other direction. When you're forced to drive at 5mph behind one for miles tempers flare and people do stupid stuff.
@purplepoppy patience is a virtue, and all drivers should have it, before they are allowed to pass their test.
Cyclists need to show some understanding too, and allow vehicles to pass without keeping them behind for any length of time.
@Sunrising I've patients over short stretches but far too many cyclists take the piss. It's simply not acceptable to hold up a long queue of cars simply because you can. Truth is most do it to encourage drivers to break the law so they can capture it on their helmet cams
@purplepoppy fortunately if cyclists are in the countryside, they must be very experienced to ride there, can you say that about car drivers. They could be using the country for short cuts instead of the main roads.
@purplepoppy The problem is on bending twisting roads vehicles can't be allowed to pass because a vehicle could be speeding around the corner.
No I have no choice but to use those roads. I've also more right because I pay car tax
I don't give a tuck. Especially after I can afford my first vehicle with inbuilt right of way mod.
The only kind of roads like the ones in your pictures are deep back roads where I live and those I wouldn't even call em roads they're like paths and they aren't dirt paths they're sand.
And those are so narrow that only one car at a time can be on them. I have not been on them often but they're always a pain.

I don’t know for sure, but i probably do.
Like many people, i turn the radio down when i’m looking for road signs and landmarks. Ell oh ell! I also steer with my whole controller and sometimes even lean into the turn when i’m playing video games that simulate driving. Ell oh ell!
Lol! Yes, I do that with video games all the time.
No, I duck my head.
I definitely tuck in my mirrors as they stick out more than my elbows do. And my ears stick out more than either of them.
@Sunrising Ears flap? And here I thought you were just stuttering.
I voted A - but unlike Denzel in Flight, I make usually sound judgements or I wait patiently - or I even avoid such drama in the first place
Unlike Denzel who says "✓ brace - brace for impact" - 👀
Lol! I had never really thought about it until I saw this question so the next time I went to town I paid attention and yes, I am an elbow tucker. 🤣
I don't know why I do that even though I'm sitting on the back seat. I squeeze myself in and try to take as much less space as possible even though it does nothing lol
I do not do that but when I drive into a parking garage with a low roof iakways duck my head.
Seriously, has the UK never realized they have a serious infrastructure problem and this is not still 1732?
I wish that driving through a cattle chute, that was only a few inches wider than the vehicle. Would be part of the driving exam! At hiway speeds.
No , but I do nearly go blind on bright sunny days if I go through a tunnel
no but i turn off the radio as if not hearing music makes my car any wider xD
I LAFFF at your timidity AHHHHhahahaha
Yes, but only on a motorcycle
Nah I don't give a tuck.
No I don't. My vehicles are wider than me
I don't drive :P
Not really. How about you?
Nope
