More emotional than what or whom?
Generally, men should be able to express emotions that are otherwise self destructive when pent up. But if a man is perceived as “more emotional” than anyone or anything, it is 100% detrimental. Emotional men are perceived as weak or unstable. Neither of which has a place in the society we have created. We are meant to be stoic in all matters.
Every man should have at least one good friend or relative in whom he can confide all of the things he can’t say to everyone else. Two is better because being an adult often means you can’t drop everything else to be there for a friend. But that one ride or die homie is like water. The longer you go without, the worse life gets. That confidant should absolutely be male as well. Despite what they say, women don’t want to hear it. She’ll either make it about herself in order to ensure she gets gold in the oppression Olympics, or she’ll tuck it away and use it against you later. In the highly unlikely event she is the only woman in human history that would never do either, she just isn’t going to understand your woes, especially when she’s one of them. So she can’t help at all, even if she wanted to. Your best friend has to be the guy who knows when it’s time to cry into your beer and when it’s time to put your big boy pants on and get back to work. If a woman ever does that, she immediately sees herself as a mother figure to you and the entire relationship dynamic changes. You will never be equals in her eyes. If she doesn’t leave you outright, she’ll be shopping for your replacement before next sundown.
What happens is that many men and a lot of women as well just hide their emotions they won’t even grieve when they’re alone until they hold everything in too long and they just… break.
There is a difference between being a crybaby and someone who just doesn’t have emotions. A lot of men are scared how others will see them be it other men, women, and their significant other. If you cannot even show emotion inside your own house that should be your refuge. Where you can hang up the mask you wear all day and genuinely be able to be yourself that’s a issue. Same for women too.
A real partner is emotionally supportive. Whether you’re angry, need to cry, are happy, and other ways of being vulnerable such as being able to show your genuine personality the weird dad jokes, your hobbies, and the side of you that you don’t show the world. A woman who doesn’t comfort her husband during hard times creates shaking knees… That’s a Bible verse. So what happens is that it does more harm later down the road.
Humans feel negative emotions. We feel scared, we feel angry, we feel sad, and everything else.
Men don't need to be more 'emotional'. They need to find healthy outlets for their emotions, because in the end, they are human and it'll find its way out or it'll kill them from the inside out. You don't have to cry in front of others if that makes you uncomfortable. Or if that puts you in a bad position (like losing respect.) But you should reflect on your emotions, rather than burying them. And you should work on expressing said emotions. In a relationship, it's essential for good communication. To set boundaries, to explain your own behavior and to work on solutions together. Rather than just being okay with whatever she decides (builds resentment).
Women who pushes a man away for crying is immature and lack empathy. And they need to get over themselves. But unfortunately, people in general are shitty. And that balance is quite challenging for a man to find.
So, don't be emotional, if that's not your nature. But reflect on how they do affect you, cause they do, unless you have a mental disorder. And if a male friend of yours, comes to you, with an issue, hear them out. You don't need to sit and cry with them, but normalize talking about struggles.
Not saying it's not true, that a man crying can be a turn off for some women. But so is a lot of things. Mature women are there when he breaks and then forgets it happened.
Men should be more emotional because it builds genuine connection, reduces stress, and helps them handle conflict and intimacy better. Showing emotion—whether publicly or privately—just means being real, not weak. It teaches others that strength includes vulnerability, and that’s what makes relationships deeper and more human.

There are things in life that they can make the strongest man break. The strongest man means nothing where human beings. I don't care if somebody sees me cry. I don't care if somebody sees me feel emotion because in that moment, whatever is happening means more to me than anything else. And if I'm sad, or if it hurts or if it's painful. Yes, I will cry. I will cry right in front of you, I don't care, it doesn't put a measurement on my manhood or anything else. It's who I am, I'm allowed to feel the way I want to feel And if nobody else likes it , I don't give a f*** , they're not me , they're not going through what i'm going through
And in this same breath, I can say, if something else was going on where I had to be the strongest man in the world could do whatever I had to do to either live survive, help somebody watch out because I will be the same way that way too I will take over and I will succeed. Life is an emotion, and until we realize this till guys realize this They're not going to be real. We are who we are, if nobody else likes it. We don't have to care like me. I don't care I will be me no matter what
Once upon a time I used to believe this, but I don't really think men should be more emotional. I think what we are talking about is men expressing emotion more, which they shouldn't really do that much either. Not because I think men should be stone cold or act tough, but because an unfortunate fact of life is that men who are more emotional or emotionally expressive are often less respected. By both men and women.
Men of course are the cruelest towards their own gender if they see something that looks like female weakness in a man, and women might be sympathetic towards one but they generally do not find emotionally expressive men attractive or strong. Women also pretend that they are outside of this issue when they are actually very much a problem in it, and will show an emotional man that they don't favor him, they just won't say it.
So unfortunately men should not show more emotion because doing so will not get him respect. We are already emotional and have our feelings about things, but we don't really need to be feminine in expressing everything.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Its ok to be an actual human being and show emotion but I would say be wise. We are still men and are usually looked up to for emotional security.
It is a scientifically studied especially in a work environment, that a man that is seen as very emotional is viewed as untrustworthy. Not saying this view is true or false, but people lose confidence in a man thats seen as overly emotional.
Leadership-wise you should have compassion but don't cry uncontrollably in front of people you lead. Of course certain situations it’s obviously ok to show emotion like someone’s death; things that a reasonable person with a human heart would react to. Be wise how you respond in front certain group of people.
Be very selective as a man who you openly show emotion to. Emotional around family is ok. Being open with your wife usually is definitely ok, just remember to make her feel secure in the situation. Thats why as men we usually just play the unmovable rock because we don’t want her to worry.
choosing to be just generally openly emotional around everyone will make you seem weak. I was in the military and had a situation happen (not a death). I was emotional about it and told my SSG. She gave me advice about it and her reaction afterwards was a posture of stop being weak. I learned then that women don’t always actually want to see you in that light as being emotional.
If a man doesn’t want to show emotion in public then he should do it in private. Men tend to be self destructive, and if they don’t let there emotions out it’s seen in different ways but it’s almost always violent.
if you are married or have a partner, just let your emotions flow and not violently. If you can’t with said partner then maybe leave them. You should be able to cry, be sad, be upset, be happy and etc with your partner.
i mean i grew up with a father who didn’t show much emotion except for being happy or angry, but once i hit high school i guess it hit differently for him. He was no longer limiting his emotions.
i talk to my dad every single day expect for Sunday’s, I’ve seen him upset, I’ve seen him cry, I’ve seen him happy and I’ve seen him sad.
the words that my father has said that always stick with me is “I hate that your living the live I had growing up, it’s exactly the same. I didn’t want to tell you in detail about my childhood so you wouldn’t end up exactly the same, but even without saying those things you still are”
You need to be in touch with your emotions
Not emotional
It’s not the same
Recognizing how you feel and how certain things make you feel is important
But dumping all your emotions into public tears will quickly drive the people around you away
Because sadness and depression is contagious
(That’s a real medical thing by the way)
And people don’t want your bad day to ruin their good one
So you need to maintain a balance
Most girls here said it best
Because bottling all of our emotions up eventually turns all the repression into anger and you'll spiral into a constantly pissed off bitter old man. Speaking from personal experience. You'll end up putting a hole through your wall over a video game glitch eventually it builds up so much over time.
A guy who is too stoic or too escapist in his overall mentality is emotionally stunted and therefore missing out on life. There are times where a guy DOES just lave to soldier on/power through, but it's not something they have to do ALL the time. Even a spartan warrior puts his shield down from time to time.
Men have become far too emotional/sensitive these days as it is. Outburst, yelling, tantrums, “ugly-crying”, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, beating up random objects. Get your shit together! Not even women reach these extremes.
How about dialing it back?
Men are emotional for the most part.. We're emotional when we need to be.. I feel like when people say that men should be more "emotional" they mean emotional like women.. In which almost no woman wants.. Now, some guys do suppress their emotions and try and seem like strong or because they don't think crying is masculine, but those guys are probably few and far in between.. Men are as emotional as we need to be..
No emotional men are dangerous.. as they tend to be in prison. Men with self discapline is whats needed.
However this doesn't mean men can't have feelings
They shouldn't. Unless it's in private... like alone on a desert island. No one respects a piss eyed man.
Exhibiting anger is also a BIG no no and one I have been very guilty of in the past.
Emotion is feminine. Emotion is a woman's tool. Keep it to yourself.
Well I got beat and teased horribly by male "family ' members for crying even as a tiny kid. For some of us if you cry ever you get ridiculed and hurt for it. And if we cried when we got beat you got beat even more. You'll need stitches afterward.
Be as emotional as you feel comfortable being. I'm not saying you should cry in public if you feel awkward, but you should feel comfortable breaking down around me, because you know I'm not going to judge it or you for doing so.
They shouldn’t… if your trapped in a burning building are you going to pray that a firefighter shows up and cry’s because it will mess up his nails or would you rather it’s someone who put their man pants on that day and pulled your ass out… sensitive men have a place … it’s called “gay”
I would say no because I personally don't like being even though inside I'm feeling things. But it is healthy because if you would be like me you all start to feel close to nothing and that is not good.
It’s okay to be emotional. What we need to understand is how to manage it effectively by speaking with a therapist. It’s stereotypical for a guy to not show his emotions because of what others think. You deserve to be you.
Maybe not more emotional but more expressive and not always keeping shit to themselves. Like so often you will talk to men and it will just all be jokes but they are going through serious stuff and they don't even let you know.
People put men down for being more expressive, including other men as well. In fact men are more cruel to other men who are emotionally expressive than women are. Women tend to talk about men needing to be more expressive but they don't really believe in it are not actually attracted to that kind of man.
@ManOnFire I had a long term partner for 12+ years i would have rather he told me stuff then to keep it to himself. That was one of the downfalls to our relationship he would just bitch at me instead of explaining what was wrong or what he needed.
@ManOnFire if a guy cried once in awhile I would think its fine as long as he was still strong mentally.. and was still calm in serious/stressful situations
Because emotions are human and men are human beings. You can try, but you can't escape them. If you try, you're likely to become a sad, d*ckless MAGA hat wearing worm whose emotions are all converted to hate, anger and bitterness.
Why shouldn’t we: it’s not a sign of weakness-more to be of strength. The man who bottles everything up and represses their feelings inevitably became an exploding keg of resentment and anger. Trust me, I did it for far too long.
just try to be balanced
its something even im working on like its not JUST a guy thing. a lot of people can improve at coping and communicating healthy
They shouldn't. Mother Nature built women to be emotional and men to be logical. When they pair up in a relationship, you get the complete gamut, which works well.
hell no. in private, you can carefully practice that. not in public. maybe at a funeral, yeah. but not generally. if you're vulnerable around people that don't have your wellbeing in mind, that can be harmfull for yourself.
They shouldn't. Your a man , no one has ever or will ever care about your emotions. Instead focus on getting results, thats the only thing anyone ever values from men.
i have to agree.. the reality of the matter is women SAY they want us more emotional, but when we are, its an automatic and immediate turn of for them, and 9 times out of 10 leads to her divorcing, or cheating then divorcing.
Honestly, I don't think we should, some women say they like men to be vulnerable, but then they complain at having to be "unpaid therapists". I think men should try to avoid vulnerability to the best of our abilities.
Forget this girl crap of wanting us to be exact opposites of what we are. We are also expected to be stoic and steadfast.
Being emotional helps you process feelings and connect with others. Crying publicly isn’t mandatory, but being honest about emotions builds stronger relationships.
Cause a man without emotion is cold, and as much as books make it out to be cool, in reality it makes for a relationship that would never last, cause women need emotion, or the feel shut out
They shouldn’t. It turns women off. Women clearly prefer violent men. It’s why they elected Jay Jones as AG of Virginia. Because these women want conservatives dead. 🤷🏻♂️
They should be honest but forced to be emotional.
Everyone as he or she needs
Not showing emotion doesn't mean that one is not feeling it.
No. A man should do what feels natural to him. And if that means holding it in and eventually dying of a massive heartattack later, so be it.
I've never felt better after showing my emotions.
Men should emote as we are designed to do, not like women generally do.
@LiamJHayden
You were designed with tear ducts in each eye
👁 👁 and tears come out of them just like women were designed to do.
I feel that using the faculty of one's emotions is a human thing. Where and how you show such emotions is one's own choice. Perhaps it would be good to have a safe space around family, or a partner, where one can express deeper feelings.
No, it's a trap. The more emotional the more alone you become.
No there is no need to. It's unnecessary and shows an inability to regulate oneself.
Not holding it in so much would help. Bottling stuff up isn't a good strategy
it’s so rare I’d get emotional that it’s uncharitable. But I don’t speak for every guy. I’m gonna be neutral.
Does anyone want that? If think if that ever happened people would be grossed out.
No, men and boys who express emotions that are not perceived as masculine always get punished for it in one way or another.
To prove their humanity. We black men can be quite emotional.
Of course we should, some of us actually are.
Short answer? We shouldn't. 😀
They shouldn't. I hate emotional people.
They should be. Emotions are healthy
So we live longer!!
so society can call them incels
No , I am moderate
