Not necessarily , chemistry can appear with people outside your “type” because attraction isn’t just about checklist traits.

It could be:
• genuine physical or emotional spark
• curiosity or novelty
• the way he engages with you naturally

It’s unlikely he’s “doing it on purpose” to manipulate you. Focus on how it makes you feel and whether the connection feels healthy and mutual.

I've had something similar with one girl. I always found her attractive, but she wasn't exactly what I thought would be my type. I kept seeing her, and I eventually became head over heels for her. I got lost in her gaze a few times. Almost entirely against my will.

We can have chemistry with anyone, even those we don't consider our normal type. He may have feelings for you based on how you describe he stares deep into your eyes, especially if he doesn't do that with other people.
