How to respond when someone is suddenly interested in EVERYTHING you do?

I guess I can feel a bit flattered that someone is trying to "mirror" and be more like me, but tbh I'm keenly aware of my imperfections, so I'm not looking for anyone to be morphing into me... it feels a little creepy.

I have a feeling that the guy in question is just lonely and working through stuff. He sees me as sort of an elder role model, that's all. At least that's the way I'm choosing to interpret it. If it means more, he'd have to tell me up front.

How would you respond if someone was suddenly interested in doing EVERYTHING the same as you?

Why would a guy want to mirror a woman? That makes no sense to me. Men and women like different things, feel things differently. I don't want to try to find some fruity side and become obsessed with figure skating because my new lady friend is into it... that's just... odd.

Nah, like I read certain things and suddenly it's all he'll read. I'll listen to certain things and suddenly he's ALL ABOUT that music. Past few months he's been a "gym rat" which now I think was probably something he was doing for some other gal bc he's very into the nitty gritty of what he's reading.

I think in my case the guy is just lonely. He's rather a nerdy sort of guy and has trouble finding folks who understand him. I can relate. The mirroring thing throws me off, though.

I want a guy to be himself. I’m a loudmouth and my boyfriend is a gentle giant. We are opposite, always have been.
