there should always be some level of effort and care to a man's appearance. you can tell when a guy looks MESSY and like he doesn't give a f*** at all. and its not attractive. the only guys who can get away with that are people like johnny depp and jason momoa. because they're fine as f*** and have the celeb factor. everyone else needs to put effort in his grooming so he can look good. women like eye candy too. no woman wants to date a man that looks like something the cat dragged in. I'm not saying be metro. I don't like the metro look personally but some women do, however he should at least try to make effort and look good so he can be attractive to women.

I'm a bit of a slob. I shower and wear deodorant but that's about it.

I dress like a slob. I wear track-pants (sweat-pants) everywhere I go, I rarely ever dress nicely because I don't give a sh*t. I would rarely ever shave at all if it wasn't for my job.

Men aren't supposed to look good, hence why I asked this question.

Everything bro. Somebody a long time ago decided it was 'feminine" to take care of yourself, and that's just not true. Would you want a girl to be mad messy and not well kept? You should be the same way. If you're going out and attempting to attract a female, than you gotta have your sh*t together. If you're just doing your own thing, than yeah I guess it doesn't matter. My opinion, keep yourself fresh, and take care of your body.

I kind of ask myself the same thing. Not really about keeping themselves looking nice and stuff cause I think every guy should be at least fresh but I mean plucking their eyebrows and using facial cleansers or getting a manicure(some guys actually do that). All that stuff is just sissy stuff. I mean guys have to be a little different then girls not follow their exact rituals.

I get a manicure every once and awhile. It's definitely cool to get dirty, and do masculine things. That doesn't mean you should walk around looking like that. It's cool to play football and get muddy, but it's uncool to go out to dinner without showering. You dig?
