Is this an actual guy thing that is fair and needs to be expected? Like you brought the burgers to the bbq in the park but didn’t bother with a spatula for flipping because “you’re a guy”. I’ve heard guys have trouble thinking i don’t know

I swear, I swear to you that I still remember every single capital and country of this world, and remember them all since the very first time I memorized them back in 1998 or something like that... and I also remember a shittton of peaks, rivers, valleys, seas and just so many other things about so many things, I do have an outstanding memory

BUT !!!

for the life of me, for whatever reason... I just don't register birthdays, my brain doesn't keep track of them, and it also doesn't care much either about what time or day is it, so that's a double-trouble in my brain

it's not me, it's just me brain... but I still apologize because well, that's still my brain, so

my best friends, my family... the closest ones to me, FFS a few times I've forgotten my own birthday

I'm very lucky, though... all of my exes happened to have their birthdays at some quite noticeable days and very easy to remember, for example... the 4th of July or "Cinco de Mayo" so... how lucky is that!!

my line of work, my hobbies, a lot of things I do in life require more due diligence so, for me to be clueless and forgetful is not usually a thing, lmao

Nah; I'm an over-planner.

I'm the guy that likes to be prepared for everything, in any situation. I'm the guy that has tools, jumper cables, & an air pump in my car on the off chance I'll need it once, ever. You never know when you'll need a survival knife!

I make sure I have the things I/we need, because I don't trust anyone else to bring it. I'm "Mr Reliable," the one that everybody says, "I'm sure he has what we need!"

I don't remember birthdays, or other important dates, for shit, though, but I have them saved in my phone's calendar to remind me.

I just assumed that's how guys were supposed to be, I guess. It's how I was raised, so I've always been like that.

I was never a Boy Scout, but isn't their motto "Be Prepared"? I always thought that guys were just expected to be the ones that were ready for anything. If/when I had a family, it would be my job to protect them from anything, even the unexpected disasters.

It wasn't until I got older that I realized that, in a crisis, most people would probably die, lol.

the problem is in your question already. "do guys forget things that matter" obviously not. they're not idiots. they remember things that matter "to them". maybe they forget what mattered to you. that does't mean they forget what matters. it means to them, different things matter.
