Do you make a big deal when it is your birthday?

Question

I mean like you want many people to wish you HB, organize friends or family get togethers (you organize them) or you also like other people to organize it for you but you like the buzz because it is your brthday or for you it is like any other day, just older. Is it important for you or not really, you are indifferent and because you are indifferent people may consider you as a bitter person.

My brother is indifferent if he is celebrated or not or if even the family arrange for alunch or things like that and people always question him, why he behaves like that and bitter.

While I appreciate a HB from family/friends, I'd rather they didn't make a big deal out of it.

My coworkers always bring special snacks for lunch for my birthday. They do this for everyone, I don't mean to make it sound like my birthday is the only one getting acknowledged.

My husband usually takes me out for dinner and has a gift. Of course always appreciated but not necessary.

My parents stop over with a cake and a gift. They do the same for my sister, too. Again, very thoughtful but not necessary.

Not at all. I only tell close and family, and usually spend the day relaxing, doing things that make happy (exercising, video games, watching tv), and I might treat myself to a nice meal.

I don't do parties, go out, and I sure as hell don't post my birthday on social media! I don't need attention from "fake friends." I figure if people really know or care about you, you shouldn't have to remind them of your birthday.

I don't make a big deal of it either 🤷‍♂️. But! Next year i am turning 40 so does my wife, 4 months between us. So we gonna put a big party and make a garden bbq party. So a BD party when we turn 40, 50, 60 and so on. Other wise it's just me and the family, we gather and that's all.

I'm always alone on my birthday, so I don't really care. I don't like a lot of attention anyway. If I'm dating a girl, it's nice when she does something nice for me. That hasn't happened in a long time though.

No, I don’t tell people it’s my birthday and try to fly under the radar. I actually forgot about my birthday this year lol my sister came downstairs and woke me up to wish me a happy birthday and I was confused

I do like it and I like to do the same for others too. I’m the kind of person that loves life and loves to be happy and will use any excuse to embrace that.

I think I do treat it as a normal day the past few years however, because I feel like a lot of my friends aren’t up for stuff! I mean even for their own birthdays! Which sucks because that’s not my vibe at all lol and it’s another reason for why I want to change my social circle so bad. I’d love to go all out.

Not really, my parents just buy a cake and I get few happy birthday texts. My 14th birthday was the last time I really celebrated my birthday and also the first time I ever invited my friends in my home for celebration, and that is because my parents also wanted a small family gathering with my birthday as excuse. I didn't celebrate my 12th and 13th birthday. I only want to celebrate my 16th and 18th birthday next.

I do take a little effort for my birthday:

Making sure that as few people as possible know about it, and that no insider information leaks to 'the public' is a challenge sometimes.

As a reward I don't have to listen to that silly ''H. B.-tune'', or to smile if an unwanted present is handed over

I don’t believe in birthdays, but I want to celebrate more holidays than what my family celebrates, so celebrating my birthday might be ideal, but no that big of a deal. I just make a fuss on other holidays, like Pesach, Hanukkah, Eids, Purim, Sukkot, Rosh haShana, etc.

My dad passed away three days after my third birthday so that’s always kind of hung over any birthday I’ve ever had since, so my birthday is I just try to get past as quickly as possible. And it may just be my imagination, but it seems like something terrible always happens within the three day period every year.

It's always nice to celebrate a birthday but since everyone has their own lives to get busy with it's not a big deal if they remember or not. I do greet my friends though cause it's a simple gesture that will make them smile hopefully.
