As a goal. As a true catcall connaisseur, I don't date any women that doesn't appreciate the fine art of shouting seduction. If she doesn't purr to my meows then this cat is not going to call her back.
Out of boredom. Laying bricks all day every day makes you become a brick. My brain is turning to mush, no wait, cement. I'll do anything to break the routine, but I can't give out the impression to my colleagues that I'm lazy or something, so I start hollering..
As a shield. The last woman I confessed to up close and alone last Christmas. She told me that "I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now". The very next day she's walking around with another guy in her arms. If I catcall, my homies will protect me of their brutality
As a weapon. I really feel for those poor ladies. Seeing those teary faces, those dreadful cries, that pain that never goes away, it just so happens to really brighten my day. Their salt is my candy vault and if they default I mine assault some more. It's a vicious cycle.
Out of desperation. I've tried work and hobbies, church and parties. Being polite, being nice, I even added sugar and spice. I kept failing, but it didn't kill me and what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. The more I fail, the bolder I get, so catcalls have become my new bet.
From arousal. Me see pretty lady. Me go hubba hubba. Lady so pretty, I go Awoooooooo~~~ga!! Ow~ Ow~ Ow~ *pant* *pant*
I just want to see the results

What Guys Said
I always assumed it was mainly to win the admiration and affection of fellow catcallers. Ironically, perhaps.
She's pretty and/or sexy. Anything wrong with that?
Certainly not. Some don't appreciate it though. They get it too often I believe.
Who doesn't like getting compliments? Yeah, I understand that some are quite crass but, they ARE still compliments. If she wasn't attractive or pretty, she wouldn't get them at all. Although, I'm pretty sure that, even if she WASN'T pretty by most peoples'' standards, there'd STILL be SOMEONE that likes her and the way she looks.
Not in support of cat call but it dose get the attention more quickly then one approach politely
