What does it mean when my boyfriend keeps asking the cost of my surprise concert gift?

I (17) bought a candlelight concert ticket for both me and my boyfriend (18). There were 3 seats, A, B, and C, I bought the cheapest one (seat C) which is around 630k indonesian currency. I originally wanted to buy the B one but it was an extra 200k and I felt bad because, it's not really my money, it's my parents? so I ended not buying that and chose the cheapest one. When we got there, he was kind of shocked and asked me how much it cost, and I really didn't want to answer because deep down I felt bad about it. To top it all off, the seat wasn't that nice because we were seated at the edge so I was more sad about it. But he asked again about the cost and when I told him if he knew I would be pretty sad, he dropped it. At the same time though, I'm panicking. Does it mean anything when he ask me about the cost? why does he keep on asking? I feel so bad.

It means he has no tact as it is bad manners to ask about the price of gifts. He should have been thankful he got to see the concert with you. 🚩

I don't know actually. His parents is pretty clear with the money boundary compared to mine? Not only that, he also earns extra by working for his dad. I always assume that the money that my parents give to me are for living cost since I live in a different city. For me it's not my money unless I earn it. But it maybe different in my boyfriend's POV, since I've heard him say "my pocket money," and not "my parent's money."
