Do men sometimes flirt, then suddenly pull back or chicken out?

I met this man at work. He is a primary school teacher. I work in the classroom next door to him. He checked me out everyday for the past two weeks.

He started being emotionally supportive too and making jokes with me. Showing off, too. Popping up near me. Then today, he suddenly told the other teachers and teacher’s aides in front of me, that he’s engaged. Which no one knew about before.

So my question is, whether it’s likely that he’s just chickened out. I’m going to respect his wishes if he’s not keen, especially if he might be engaged. I just notice that this sort of thing happens a lot to me, where I can never seem to keep a decent man and I’m left with all the creeps. I am not beautiful, but I’m very pretty, I’m smart and generally get on with most people.

Since he is a teacher he knows that he better behaved properly with the students and staff or he could get it a lot of trouble at work.

Perhaps other staff members were watching his behavior around you and said something to him about it. He shouldn't be flirting with you at all.

He knows that it's inappropriate to have any kind of love relationship with someone he works with.

He could just be a big flirt and when he noticed that you were accepting his flirting behavior the game was over.

Some men are hunters and it's the chase that they like. But when you were allowing him to chase after you by flirting with you and the other things he does with you, he knew you were falling for him so the chase was over. He probably has a big ego and might be doing this with other women as well.

Some guys start falling for a woman and it scares them to have those feelings and so they back off. Maybe he felt like he was in too deep with you so he put some distance between you two.

I would consider him physically and emotionally unavailable to you, especially if he really is engaged.

Just don't be very friendly with him anymore. Say hello and then be on your way. He's playing games with you.

It's not only you that ends up with guys who aren't your type. That type of thing happens to a lot of people.

Just ignore him. He's not worth the trouble.

I may have shown similar behavior. I incidentally flirted with her, and I liked her the more it happened. Eventually, it got to the point that I liked her too much. She stared making me more nervous and overrhink.

Okay. I don’t know if it was you that this happened with, but if it did, I like you back, but I’m not in a position to act on it until I finish tafe in 4 months. That’s because I’m technically still a student and I might return to work placement at your school and it could ruin my reputation of professionalism and code of ethics. For now, I have to not put a foot out of line, which is why I was so reserved and trying not to show signs of interest.

I'm going to assume I don't know you. My girl just turned 28 and lives in Virginia. However, your join date gives me pause.

Our situations do have some parallels. Both could be consider "forbidden." There could be fears of negative consequences in her professional life, but I would have to be malicious towards her. I would never do that, and all my actions have had benevolent intent. What ever she wanted, she would get. I'd do almost anything to make things work or even get a chance at dialog.

Does this guy know you needs to wait 4 months or anything about your situation? You should connect him in anyway to let him know. You don't want him to think you hate him or aren't interested. He might find someone else.

I can’t make any sort of move until I finish TAFE. He’s a teacher, so he’d have to know. Until I graduate, any move has to come from him.

I'm not familiar with TAFE, but it didn't seem like you were learning under him. If he's engaged, you are probably better off moving on anyway.
