Why do men call to talk but then forget everything I just told them?

So i responded back to my male coworker with a text and he called me up. He was driving and had been out all day. I dont like talking on the cellphone, but since I wasn't doing much either, I answered the call. The conversation was ok but I want to note that 1. I told him I was coming back to work next week
2. I told him that I chose the worst week to come back
3. He asked why and I told him that it's a predicted period week
4. He thought it was always predictable for women and we had a whole segment about why it was only predictable to an extent.
And he does bring up pregnancy again and I think i lost him there because he expressed he wanted to have kids. Then I talked about another topic I was passionate about and by the time I was done I didn't hear any reply so I hung up the phone. (He was in his house)
Kinda stung because, how long was i talking to myself? However I already knew he was going to say he fell asleep. What got me was when he texted me asking when was I coming in and if I was excited to come back 😒 We only had this conversation a few hours ago. WTH and it triggered me cuz my ex did this even in texts with the evidence right there
He forgot weeks of us being together and would ask me if I ever did something that we both tried for the 1st time together. Why call or text if you're going to forget or disregard what I say in less than a day? You're wasting my time and energy.

Because most of the time we’re just talking to make conversation to keep you on the line. But most men really don’t give a crap about everything you have to say. Men remember things that are important to us. So more than likely if he doesn’t remember whatever it’s more than likely not important to them. It’s just to give the appearance that we actually care about what women have to say. There’s some exceptions, but a lot of times that’s what it is.

It's all unnecessary, just wasting each other's time and now im less likely to pick up
It's like y'all shoot yourselves in the foot once women realize we're talking to the air

Actually most women need attention, which conversations are a part of. You may not need it but a lot of women do.

Im just saying that it wasn't warranted it was unprovoked if he made the decision to call then he should give me his undivided attention out of respect
And if he can't do that then don't talk to me until he's able to

No, by the time we were talking about that, he was in the house
I just mentioned that because that's when he first called and also maybe the reason why he was tired
but that still doesn't excuse him from calling while he was preoccupied or tired. It's even more of a reason why he shouldn't have called
