"Hey gorgeous." Is he a player?

Okay, so I was over at the shoe shop. The guy who was working behind the counter didn't smile or nothing when he saw me. But soon as I walked up, hey said, "Hey Gorgeous." That was pretty much the end of that. The guy though is pretty fine. It got me thinking about why men do this or say this.

Girls, does this ever happen to you? Do you feel like its insincere or coming on to strong?

Guys, what does the terms "gorgeous" or "beautiful" mean to you? Are you just trying to get in girls pants when you say that or trying to brighten your day? I can't figure out if its sweet or just cheesy? I do like the guy, but I have a hard time believing he is sincere.

Well I can't speak for all men, but I can speak for myself, and yeah I'm guilty of this from time to time. Though I don't think it's a matter of me trying hard, or even trying to impress anything. For me it's just a matter of being a living flirt. It's just who I am. I sort of flirt with everyone, and I sort of flirt with anything that moves... and a few things that don't. I think by now people just realize that it's part of my charm.

So I don't know about that one guy, but there is a chance he might be like me and just says that crap to anyone, without intent, without any point or reason or attempt to play anyone. It just might be a part of who he is, and perfectly innocent. But that's just me playing devil's advocate here. I have no idea. He might totally be hitting on you. He might totally be a player. I'm just giving you an honest reason why there's a chance he's not though.

As for what gorgeous means to me, I think it just means something that is really beautiful. Beautiful is something of beauty. Beyond that defining beauty falls under difficult purview of your conundrums of philosophy. It's really so subjective that one must ask how you can quantify it. Nah. I can't. Some things are just beautiful or pretty or gorgeous.

I can rank them though. Gorgeous above beautiful, beautiful above pretty. Sexy or hot is parallel and has nothing to do with either. (just in case you were wondering)

Anyway a guy isn't just saying things to get into someone's pants. It could be sincere, it could be just a off the hand remark with no intention or meaning at all, it could be to brighten your day, or to be slightly charming, or it could be nothing. Sometimes it's cheesy, sometimes it's sweet, but whatever it is, it just simply is.

As for your guy and whether or not he's sincere. Just get to know him some more. Sooner or later his level of sincerity will become clear, and you'll see him for who he really is. Nobody can keep up an act forever. Nobody. Just give it time. You'll see. His true colors will shine through sooner or later.

I wouldn't give it too much thought especially if you responded well to it and he didn't make a move. A lot of times people will try to compliment their customers to make them feel better and comfortable buying a lot of things. More sales make them look good and complimenting women is the best way to make those sales. If he makes more moves then that would give you a better view on his intentions. Every guy has their own meaning when they use gorgeous or beautiful. Some see it as a high standard and big compliment where others use it because they have a better chance whooing the girl.

I know! I hate that. haha. I've noticed men will sometimes compliment a woman to get her to buy things. only gay guys can get away with that!
