Girls : how did he win you?

We hear so many situations on here about how a man should try and win a woman he likes, perhaps we should look it a different way : how did your current/most recent boyfriend win you over ?

Obviously he was successful, so lets hear what actually worked ladies !

A few of the ladies area saying that they can't be "won" over, which I understand - I don't expect any stories about Jedi mind tricks!


My question just concerns how he made you notice him in the first place and what path you took from initial attraction to actually being in a relationship together. If you like somebody it isn't a done deal, I assume, you still have expectations of how things progress?

well, considering I have a strong personality, he has to at least match that. In addition I find myself to be mostly attracted to men with refinement and expensive tastes. This has nothing to do with gold digging since I really do not care for his income or wallet (I pay for my own things), but I do appreciate a guy who knows his wines, knows how to behave in public, is self assured and knows how to make a suit look good. I generally go for men that are older than me (I just do not bond with people my age :\ ). I like a man who not only can let loose in an arcade and have fun there, but is also presentable at black tie events without me having to worry he will make an ass of himself.

Personality wise, again I like a strong character, I like him to be secure and confident and also just and logical in his approach to things and of course have a hidden soft side :)

He won me over the first time we met at a small dingy low key bar when he asked me to dance and we ended up tangoing the night away. and he won me again when we started talking more in depth and his approach to things was similar to mine.

I'm single now but my ex won me over by writing me this really sweet letter. We were in that flirty stage where some people were asking us if we were dating but we hadn't officially gone on a date yet or agreed to be a couple. Right before spring break we hung out all afternoon, then he left for vacation. He had spotty internet and was in a different country so we couldn't text, but he still sent me emails. One night when he was jetlagged he wrote me this letter (it was like 2-3 pages long typed) about how much he liked me. It was so sweet and sincere and it definitely made me melt. Then when we had our first date soon after he was really patient when I was nervous about having my first kiss.

I was physically attracted to him and he was always trying to take care of me. I'm so used to always taking care of everyone. He wouldn't let me hold open my own doors, always tried to convince me not to jwalk in the crosswalk, wouldn't let me go climb buildings if he thought I had been drinking (we both went to this party where he got plastered so he thought that I must've been drinking a lot too but I had none) and was just extremely caring. I just always felt very safe with him.

Unfortunately after we hooked up I said somethings I didn't mean and now he just wants to be friends.

That's not -generally- how things work.

People are attracted to each other based on who the other is and their innate qualities, not some specific act they did to win the other over.

He was so patient. He understood that I needed time and that I require a lot of space, hate cuddling, and have a hard time talking about how I feel. He accepted me for everything that I was and didn't see me as damaged goods. He showed me that not everyone was out to hurt me and he stuck by my side even when things got really bad.

After resisting him for 2 months and telling myself that I didn't need anyone, I realized that if he were willing to put up with me like that... Then he must really care.

We met in a college class. He simply came and sat next to me and started talking. Our personalities are very similar and we almost always have something to talk about. When we're together, it's never pressured, we always enjoy whether it be us talking, snuggling and watching a movie, or making out(it's a relationship based on love, talking, and connection, we enjoy the physical perks, but it's so much more than that) and maybe the fact that it's more than physical helps. There's never any pressure, even when he jokes around about having sex(I'm still a virgin), it's never pressure. If something's wrong, he'll listen, might not always offer advice, but he'll lend a caring ear. He's not a pansy though, we can goof off, wrestle(though in reality they're tickling wars), disagree on something(without either really getting mad/offended). To be honest he won me over because he's real, doesn't let other people's opinions make his, he's fun, he's loving and we just connected from the start. :)

He won me over with his romance and how funny he was. Intelligence also played a part. I think over all I really liked his personality, he was actually my best friend for a while before we dated. We've been together since we were 15 and everything has been wonderful. A lot of people don't think he's the most attractive guy, but he's perfect to me. We're just two pieces that fit together I guess.

I met him at a summer camp where I was working two years ago and we started talking-I thought he was really sweet and nice and funny but I looked at him more as a friend than anything else. The guys that won me over were different in many ways but there were a few common traits... They enjoyed life on day to day basis, they knew where they were going in life ( decisive) and were fun to be with. And of course had clean hands and fingernails :-D
