As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be a dark-skinned girl, but maybe a girl who just isn't conventionally attractive or the type that your peers would want from you.

I understand that dark-skinned women aren't everyone's type. (I understand that there are studies that explicitly state that men have a natural biological attraction to lighter women predominantly.) But I also can't help but wonder sometimes if those preferences are not just natural but also nurtured or shaped socially by male peer groups.

Growing up as a dark skin girl, I remember having a lot of experiences with different men of different races being very attracted to me but almost seemingly embarrassed to be attracted to me at the same time or scared to be attracted to me in front of their family/friends. I'm wondering if one of those reasons was because they were afraid that their friends/family would have bullied or ostracized them for that.

It seems like there's this almost unwritten social mandate, largely manufactured by certain men, for men to participate in celebrating not being attracted to dark-skinned women and those men in particular also like to push this idea onto their peers as the standard/ way of thinking for success and status.

For example this attitude of: "If you date dark-skinned women, you're not successful or a loser in my eyes, get a white girl and then we can talk" type of situation.

There are also negative stereotypes about dark-skinned women being masculine, obese, unfeminine, mean, that certain men like to perpetuate further in order to pressure their friends and family into not being with a dark-skinned woman, even if dark-skinned women aren't all like these negative caricatures that they paint of them in real life.

So, as a question for the men of GAG: Have you ever been peer-pressured by your male friends into not pursuing or liking a dark-skinned girl or a girl that your friends didn't approve of?

I didn't even flirt with him but maybe he took me being more talkative than usual as flirting. He remained polite but was not as smiley and chatty as usual even though I caught him checking me out several times before and he used to be very interested in my personal life the first time we talked.

A guy friend of mine and I are usually really close and enjoy each others company.
We engage in a lot of banter, but he is in a relationship so it never is anything serious.

Because I hadn't seen him in a while, I decided to add him on socials.

He accepted. A few days later an incident between the two of us occurred for which I reached out and apologised. Things seemed to be alright afterwards, so I made a joke and that was it. He deleted me the day after.

I don't expect any of you to know why he would unfriend me, but if this would have been you in this scenario: what would make you delete someone you usually get along with really well?

Call me boring but I want a traditional life.
I want to go on dates & be asked to be someone’s girlfriend. I want to get engaged / married and build a family. I want to stay at home cooking / cleaning / taking care of the kids.
I want to find a man that is in his masculine energy so i can be in my feminine energy. I want a man who is happy to provide.
Does this mean i’ll milk him of every penny? Of course not. I can and want to have my own part time job or own business. But I want someone who makes me feel safe and secure.
It seem like these traditional values have become lost in todays society. Everyday I see grown men wanting to live off of women. They expect everything to be 50/50 due to “equal rights” but when it comes to any domestic stuff they don’t move a finger to help.
Feels like us women have just taken on the burden of more daily work / problems for ourselves. We don’t even get surprise dates / flowers or little love notes anymore 😭😭 !!

where are the men who want a traditional woman? Where are the gentlemen that arnt ashamed to “simp” over their girlfriend & shower her in love?

are these just stories from fairytales?

ps. Age isn’t a factor because I’ve dated 30/33 years olds & they all have this same modern man mentality. Everyone just wants to be nonchalant 👎🏼

I have started conversations with multiple people and they have all told me that the woman with surgeries and voluptuousness is the ideal woman, the meaning of a true woman. How true is that?

I am a woman without surgeries, I am not socially pretty or attractive, but I have never felt ugly, that's where my question comes from, is it possible to feel like a woman without having surgeries?

I was born a woman biologically, but I don't feel like one, the current beauty standards make it difficult, it makes me doubt myself, and at the same time it makes me feel bad since I don't feel feminine or that I have value as a person.

So there’s this guy in my class, who I sit behind of. I got to admit his kind of attractive but that’s it, he’s style is good and he’s eye catching so I be staring at him sometimes at class so I be seeing how he acts, now that seats changed I sit behind him and lately he turns around and we make a small eye contact (there’s no one behind me) and he touches his hair a LOT, especially today. He was fixing, touching his hair every 5 seconds and it really started distracting me to be honest. Then later his friend talked to me because we got class together and he was smiling and giggling at me while I was speaking to his friend and yes we had a small chat all together. I sometimes feel he be staring at me in both classes we got together but I might just be crazy. What do you guys think?

It's shady to me that someone would have two snapchats, I wouldn't even know how to handle two, but I think my sister's boyfriend does. He is 26 and I just am curious if guys ever do that!

He is an intern I’ve talked to a few times. He mentioned he had a girlfriend but i caught him checking me out several times and he seems a bit interested in other men talking to me. For instance when I talk to a male coworker he would take glances, walk past us or just ask me who this guy was and what we were talking about. Is this normal curiosity or indicative of deeper interest? I noticed that he remembers every little detail I tell him but that might just be his personality

I travelled to his city (as per his invite) and he asked me these questions.

He was interviewing my alongside the 2 senior managers of the team and was supposed to mentor me and show me around on my first day at work since I was assigned to his project. I felt like I sucked during the interview since the senior manager seemed to not like me but received an offer the next day. I assume it was because I was the only applicant for the role.

When I arrived on my first day I saw him making a phone call in the lobby but not acknowledging me. Later the senior manager welcomed me and showed me the office where he was not to be found even though he was supposed to show me around. Later I found out that his coworker would mentor me instead of him and he never made an effort to talk to me, not even work related issues. Even other coworkers mentioned that he barely spoke to me so I’m not imagining it.

Does that indicate that he thinks I’m incompetent and therefore doesn’t want to be associated with me? Or does he think I would just be a bother because I don’t come off intelligent enough for him? Or does he just find me unpleasant or physically unattractive? He is married but I know that he has an affair with his coworker and he is quite sociable so it’s not like he is afraid of metoo.
