This is the dumbest thin I have ever heard. We have something in America called freedom that allows people to live their lives how they want to as long as they aren't hurting anyone else. If someone wants to be fat and eat bad let them. Nobody has the right to tell anyone else how to live. Nobody has the right to tell someone how to live their lives.
No but people need to be properly educated about the subject. Losing weight is not as hard as people think it is, just takes time, like everything in life. I've been there so i know the struggle
@renogaza Oh. Well yes it's a sad story. I'm just pointing out that when Japan makes it illegal to be fat, they are ostracizing people for no good reason. Fat people are bullied there because it's basically encouraged by law. Companies are fined for people being fat, so the natural inclination as a businessman is to fire fat people and avoid hiring them to begin with. If someone can't make it in society and no one wants to give them a chance, they will likely feel worthless and like a failure. It creates a cultural problem. Japan has openly and actively created a number of cultural problems, which is why I don't find it surprising that they have a serious suicide problem on their hands.
I hope things are going better for you these days renogaza...
No, People like you should just move to Japan. 1. They are having a population growth problem, And they love ultra-conformist. 2. They had to structure their society to be like ours to be successful, Not vice versa.
Everyone says that about every other country in any type of power position. The US aren't a bunch of saints either. Different countries, different rules, lifestyles, culture, etc. Doesn't mean it's right, doesn't mean it's wrong (aside from legit atrocities)
That's more the point really. Every country thinks every other one is bad and horrible and needs to change and push for their way of life on another country yet when that country tries to push their ways, oh man, then it's bad. It's not okay, but every country, at least in the power game, does it. Some more successfully than others or they simply just judge the other country as being inferior which a lot of people do in regards to America as well.
Excellent Take. I agree with your opinions at the end, too - while this is an excellent idea, it wouldn't fly here, at least not in the current political climate.
Or instead of blaming the poor worker bees, you could instead look at the fast food companies that spend millions of dollars convincing everyone that eating poison is good.

Oh, you should see the people who are trying to get this done. It's heartbreaking because at the end of the day it's only ever about the bottom dollar. Those companies spend billions to keep the public unaware and eating that poison.
since freedom sucks... it's funny how you don't really get what freedom means. oh, and that's why you have the freedom to fuck society up, and why millions like you raise healthcosts and are unattractive and bitch about not getting men and shit haha..
No, I don't think it should be illegal at least not unless the Government is going to make healthy food cheaper and more accessible and if they are going to make workplaces have mandatory workout time and shorter work weeks and no mandatory overtime.
I'm laughing at the arguments some people are using, oh they are not educated! Really? If you think an oreo is healthier than an apple, it should be illegal for you to be alive.
No. It should be treated like every other medical condition, instead it's not treated and there is a general belief that fat people need to "just pull them selves up by their boot straps".
Something should be done. I stumbled upon some data where it showed how many more women are obese than men, and even worst is the difference is increasing. I wonder if the trend continues will men begin to out live women?

Americans seem to have super size portions, a good start would be to down size them and eat in moderation.
No it should be illegal for people like you, to constantly moan/go on about how other people choose to live their lives
You mean the law in the books in Japan...
Illegal to be fat turns into fired for being fat which leads to Aokigahara...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FDSdg09df8Aokigahara, the suicide forest.. didn't think i'd see that in gag :\
@renogaza Why not?
Because its very morbid and downright depressing :( (tried to commit suicide a while ago, long story)

hmm true enough, japan is hurting themselves by allowing that law to continue especially since japan is already suffering from underpopulation
Also that happened a long time ago, its behind me now :p
Haha, illegal to be fat.. Fucking heard it all now. 😂😂😂
Anyone who answers yes to this question should move to North Korea. They would be happier there.
No. It should be illegal to be so far up your own ass you think you have the right to tell people how to live their life.
damn adriana ma'am, i love the sass ;)

Somebody is touchy touchy!
Japan really is an evil empire, And its scary that people want to emulate that type of fascism.
But at least it's not the Chinese lol

Yeah, So if nobody is pushing their agendas on The Japanese to change, Why is it ok to do it to the U. S?

Illegal? No, some people have thyroid problems or have fat/obesity in their genetics which is out of their control.
Shouldn't be encouraged though.
Over-eating or under-eating is self-abuse. It's not healthy. People like that need help.
Well I suppose that is part of the reason Japan offers them counseling for their weight issues as opposed to just saying, go lose weight.
This person is an M. D. and secretary of state for health:

No, I don't think it should be illegal at least not unless the Government is going to make healthy food cheaper and more accessible and if they are going to make workplaces have mandatory workout time and shorter work weeks and no mandatory overtime.
It's not illegal in Japan either... O. o
They may, however, cut your health insurance if nothing changes, so you'll have to pay for it yourself.
