1. The idea of eating slowly and mindfully stems from the idea that slow eating allows the brain to regulate fullness/satiety.
2. Eating a meal at exactly the same time every day is impractical. Things happen. I believe the big thing is caloric restriction.
3. Clean water is one of the luxuries of the developed world. You can find clean water anywhere, even in grocery stores.
4. "Unhealthy" is kind of subjective. A doughnut is unhealthy, if you eat it frequently enough. It's just deep-fried sugary dough with a sugar coating. It's okay to eat sweets as a special holiday treat.
5. "Big portions" is kind of subjective. What is big to you may be small to someone else. It is possible to eat a large plate of broccoli and eat very few calories, because broccoli itself does not generate many calories. So, if you want to lose weight, then it's best to stock up on leafy greens and other low-calorie vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, and soy products.
6. A crash diet is a dramatic decrease in weight. That is as unhealthy as a dramatic increase in weight.
7. I think the price tag of the food should determine that, as it is kind of expensive to eat out.
Losing weight isn't complicated. The difficult part is designing your diet/workouts in a way that is most enjoyable so you don't feel like you're killing yourself to do it.
Have you ever had to lose weight? Lol
@Puppylove94
Went from 230 to 180 in 8 months lol. Yes. I joined a sports team that met up 3 times a week. 1 to 1.5 hours each practice. The weight-loss occurred be massive massive effort. Didn't even really change my diet. I ate better dinners was the only difference because I got so much hungrier
Fair enough lol im sure you would agree tho that the closer you get to your goal the harder it is. It isn't as simple.
In the end, it's all a science. I agree that is isn't all that complicated. Unless you have some type of medical issue (which only about 5% of obese people have) that causes you to be overweight. Then it's just finding the right motivation, and diet.
Lost nearly 50 pounds myself within a year, and put on muscle. Just took hard work, dieting, good nights rest, the right mindset, and planning.
Also, good for you RjRoy. 50 pounds in 8 months is impressive.
@Puppylove94
"Complicated" - a lot of moving parts. Hard to grasp or understand.
"Simple" - few parts. Easy to grasp or understand.
"Difficult" - hard to do.
"Easy" - not difficult to do.
I'm not saying it's necessarily easy. It may be difficult in the beginning certainly. Because it's easier not to get in shape than it is to get in shape. But the process is very very very simple. It's not hard to understand. Everyone KNOWS what to do in order to get into shape or lose weight. We just complicate things, by going back and forth about the absolute best way to do it. Or sticking to a strict diet may be difficult, but the diet itself is very simple. It just may not be easy to follow it.
The closer you get to the goal it is just as simple as it was in the beginning. Because you just keep grinding. The mental fatigue might get difficult, but it is still a simple thing.
@krash2002
Thanks brother. It was several years ago. I've never had to make such a change since that time. But I still relate to the experience. I always looked at working out as a way to get strong and improve performance for sport.
@Puppylove94
But as Krash said. Unless you have an actual medical condition or a serious long term injury it's really not complicated. The steps are 1. Workout 2. Don't eat outrageously compared to your workouts 3. Rest enough.
Past that you just get into the minutia of things and that complicates things. Like everyone knows. Eat vegetables know. Everyone knows drink water. Everyone knows you shouldn't drink a ton of soda, milkshakes, hot cocoa and eat tons of candy. Everyone knows you should sleep more. Those aren't things you have to try to learn and understand. Deep down we all know we should do those things. We just have to get ourselves to do it.
So giving people 8 steps, 7 steps, 12 steps to get in shape is really just over complicating something that isn't complicated.
Yeah but people like me who have been doing that forever need to switch things up. The things I used to do don't work anymore. Some I'm switching things up.
Running. And eating too little.
500-800 calories a day lol no grains and no fats
It didn't tho. It slowed down my metabolism. I did it for too long. I don't do cheat days either... so my body just got used to eating nothing.
@Puppylove94
The thing about the metabolism is that it fluctuates. But it doesn't stop. It stops when you die. If you're moving and eating you will burn. Just doing more of the same would work. It just could potentially suck. POW who starve lose weight and lose it fast. Their metabolism is very slow. Still lose fat.
Yeah well I'd rather lose it healthy. I wasn't lifting so I had to start doing that. But before that period that nothing. Was changing I was running 40 min a day (7:30 mph pace) and eating that few of calories. Nothing was coming off so that's why I knew I needed to switch things up.

I eat fast cause I don't got time to eat slow
skipping meals is a way to cut weight as long as your other meals cover your needs (micronutrients), for me I forgot my 4th meal a lot and thats like 600 calories right there
been drinking a lot, and surprisingly losing weight cause of it
intermitted fasting is actually a good method of dieting, eat the biggest portions you want
last 2 topics are pretty much a no go
Eat more small meals keeps your metabolism working
Skipping meals might work for you but for most those methods result in binge eating because they're generally pretty unsustainable
If you want to loose weight you must avoid eating more carbohydrates than the amount required by your body. If you eat less you won't have energy, if you eat more that excess will be transformed into fat.
Just basic nutrition knowledge.
You can do all of those things and still lose weight. IT'S about calories in vs calories out. Nothing to do with food types or portion size.
GO learn about nutritional science before talking shit op
Here's another one: Don't eat yourself to sleep; have a meal and then go lie down. Instead, take a stroll afterwards.
Sleep is very important if you want to lose weight. Two hormones regulating your appetite are ghrelin and ceplin. These hormones are thrown out of balance if you don't have proper sleep.
Many people agree on the fact that 2 is a myth. Intermittent fasting is a thing and it works!!!
Yup #2 is a myth
You can eat 2 massive meals, skip third one and even have a soft drink and still lose weight. Its all maths and if you add it up right, it will work
Yeah, I do some of those things. Hey, what episode was that "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" screenshot from? I don't recall that scene.
I do all of those except diet and still lose weight
@YaBaba too fast unfortunately, gets annoying
Hey now, skipping meals is exactly how I lost weight. Don't knock it.
Good thing I'm not trying to lose weight, I do all of these. Except the last one, cause eating out is expensive, when I eat out I don't eat enough
nice gift the first one
Some very helpful advice there for people
Easier said than done though lol
And you can exercise.
It does wonders.
nice one
