We all have experience stress in our day to day lives whether it's from very demanding events or people. Stress can affect our bodies both physically and emotionally. Stress can cause mild symptoms like headaches, low energy, lack of motivation and loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyable to severe symptoms like an heart attack, insomnia, or a stroke. Here are a few that are useful when dealing with stress.
1. Exercise
Exercising is a great way to cope with stress. Not only does it helps you emotionally but it's really good for keeping you in shape. A lot's of people who under a lots of stress are emotional eaters which can make them gain a lots of weight and risk their health but when you choose to exercise instead binge eating, you are doing your body a lots of good. You'll be healthy and look healthy.
2. Listening to music
When i'm stressed out, i love listening to music. I used to listen to songs that would best fit my mood but i realize that listening to happy music when your sad change you mood to happy. Listening to music is one thing, but the theme is another. When your at saddest moment, listening to a song that's full of energy can brighten up your day making you feel energized and yes i know this from personal experience. Next time your feeling sad and blue, don't forget to play Happy by Pharrell and trust me, you'll actually feel happy.
3. ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response )
A lots of people are not familiar with this but i will tell you what ASMR is. ASMR is a physical sensation of tingling on the skin beginning with the scalp moving down to the back. It's very relaxing and it helps a lot with stress. This can also be used for sleep if you're suffering from insomnia. There are different kinds of ASMR videos like tapping sounds, Doctor role play, Spa, Sleep hypnosis, Therapy, and many more. This one is my favorite and i'm so happy that i found out about Asmr. If you really want to experience tingles and relax, then you can check out ASMR on YouTube.
4. Reading a book
A lot's of people claims that they hate reading but is that really true? I believe that anyone can love reading if they're reading a book that they love. If you're someone who hates reading, then try to find a book that fit your interest. For example, if you're interested in being a fashion designer then a fashion book will do just fine. If you love reading like me, then go pick out as many books as you can and start reading. Every time i read, i would picture everything and the story would feel like a movie to me. Reading is something i love to do especially when i'm bored in school doing nothing.
5. Arts and Crafts
I love drawing even though i'm not an artist lol. It makes me feel like a kid again and keeps my mind of stress. If you have a love for arts and crafts then do it. You don't have to be an artist but if you enjoy it, then that's all that matters.
6. Yoga/Dance
I'm not a fan of yoga and don't think i will try it anytime soon but i do love to dance in the comfort of my house of course. I heard that yoga is really relaxing for the mind and body. Dance gives you the energy that you want and helps your body burn a few calories which is good.
7. Group support
It's good to be in a group with people that you can relate too because that will help you open up about your problems and also help others who are in need of support.
If you're dealing with stress, i want to let you know that you're not alone and i hope you get better. Also, if there's anything other stress coping activities that i'm missing then please feel free to share them.
