How To Stay Healthy During The Hot Summer Months
1) Drink Water
High temperatures and not replenishing fluids lost through sweating can cause dehydration. So protect yourself from serious heat-related illnesses by drinking water throughout the day.
2) Wear A SPF Cream
Protect your skin from the suns harmful UV rays by applying a Sun Factor Protector cream every two hours (and immediately after swimming). A minimum of SPF 30 should be used, preferably SPF 50.
3) Wear Sunglasses
Protect your eyes from cataracts and premature aging around the eyes by wearing UV protection sunglasses.
4) Avoid Sitting In The Sun During Peak Hours
Minimize UV radiation by avoiding sitting in the sun for prolonged periods during peak hours, which is generally between 10am and 4pm.
5) Wear A Hat/Cap
Give extra protection to your hair, eyes, ears and neck by wearing a hat or cap.
6) Wear Appropriate Clothing
The evaporation of sweat transfers heat away from the skin. So wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing to leave more skin exposed to air. This allows sweat to evaporate which will help keep your body cool. Avoid wearing darker clothing as they absorb more heat.
