Healthism is the moral obligation to be healthy. Do you think this is right or wrong to impress upon people as a society?
No, I don't think there is any kind of obligation to be healthy...only that being healthy and/or fit is obviously more desired than the alternative.
The picture you provided is kind of the confusion that goes on in society. The lady really didn't answer the question. It's not like he thought "Oh, she's fat...so I'll ask her if she's unhealthy since she is more likely to be unhealthy".
1) They were already talking about health and fitness lol. So I don't really know why she got so offended and danced around the question...which related entirely to what they were talking about in the first place.
2) He wasn't a dick about it. He didn't say anything rude, condescending, or insulting about them. He asked them if they were healthy. A 130 pound kid and a 300 pound woman...which of the two do you think are more likely to be healthy. I've met plenty of out-of-shape, unhealthy 130 pounders and I'm not the only one to do so either. So this lady can't say that people only assume that overweight people are the only ones at risk for a medical condition, or are the only ones capable of being out of shape/unhealthy. The lifestyle you lead is the indicator here.
I realize I focused on that picture specifically, but I only addressed it because she isn't unique in her viewpoint about her body and her health. I don't think she's part of that "fat acceptance movement", but it sounds an awful lot like their arguments. Again, he didn't put the impression on her to look a certain way...he asked about her health (which she avoided and didn't answer, at least not in that tidbit).
Even the "tone" of that picture strikes "FAM" to me- trying to make the fitness trainer seem like an invasive dick who got put in his place by the woman. That might work for some, but I wasn't fooled or swayed by it. Instead, I saw the general avoidance and red-herring argument in her response.
That pic is hilarious. The health of America is a very complex issue. Most of the problems can be traced to government interference. If we would tackle those issues, we wouldn't need another 'ism'
Here's just a quick rundown:
1) Farm (specifically corn) subsidies. This makes HFCS EXTREMELY cheap. Therefore food manufacturers can cram their processed foods full of it to boost flavor. Also makes corn the go-to grain for cattle. grain-fed cattle is worse for you than grass-fed.
2) Food Pyramid - this guideline, created by the government with influence of grain producers - weighs heavily on grains. Many people this is a bad diet for humans and has increased obesity.
3) The war on fat. This has left us with high HFCS foods to replace their full-fat counterparts. Again, a diet that is responsible for obesity rates.
4) Food 'regulations'. Raw milk farmers are being raided by the federal government. Raw milk is much healthier for us than processed milk.
Ethanol. Mandated corn in our gas tanks. Therefore the price of foods go up because of the natural forces of supply and demand...making cheap, processed foods all the more attractive to low-income folks.
No that's stupid you can't always control your heath. You can make healthy life choice, such as not smoking or eating well. And if you don't you should have to pay more into our health care system, because you are vastly increasing your chances of taking big amounts of money out of it.
Health care companies make you pay more based on your gender and medical history, which I don't think they should because they're a lot of things that you can't change there. But how is it any different to make people pay more based on lifestyle? Something you can change
I believe that people should keep their body healthy. It's your body. You should want the best for your body, and live as long as possible. And trust me, I'm not a hypocrite saying this. I only eat organics and I love greens. I'm skinny, and I only eat junk food occasionally

Trying to impose an ideology onto another person is something I'm not personally very fond off, having been the target for such for quite a long time. Therefore I don't think it's right to try and force people to live more healthy lives. Then again if people ruin their health and then use up valuable resourses of the society because of their own decision of not being healthy, is not exactly right in my mind either.
So choose.
Right then. Thanks.
You can't force someone to be healthy. She seems pretty confident about herself. So.
If i see someone doing sth bad to her/his health, i advise something. That is all i can do. The rest is up to him/her.
But actually i don't like the idea of thinking for someone. 'The I know better than you attitude'. I just hate that.
Here's the way I see it.
You're an adult, live the way you want. But if you die because of over eating, or just unhealthy eating in general, don't expect me to feel sorry for you.
Don't press upon me anything. I'll do what I want with the information I have obtained myself
well, if we need to be saved from ourselves...
If someone is happy with their body, I'm happy.
