How long does it generally take to grow a beard?

I recently decided to stop shaving to try and combat the fact that I'm 19 and look somewhere around 14-16. It's been about 5 days and the sideburns, mustache and lower lip/chin area is starting to grow but I don't really know how long it generally takes for a guy to grow a beard. My father, and my gandfather on my mother's side both have beards so I figure I can get one, I just don't know how long. Because right now it just sort of looks like I forgot to shave for a few days.

Hard to tell, different guys grow beards in different paces. It takes me maybe a week to get something decent, but mine grows fast. Could also be that your facial hair isn't "fully developed". I got my first facial hairs when I was maybe 12-13 and my beard is still spreading and getting thicker every year ("developing").

You're young, so yours will take longer. It also depends on how long of a beard you're wanting to grow.

Not too long, enough to be able to shave after a while to give it a look something like this:

Basically enough to make it more obvious that I am older than 15, I don't plan on growing it out to any real length beyond what is necessary to give a full five o clock shadow instead of the sideburns and light mustache that normally starts to come in after a few days without shaving.

It depends on the guy. From clean shaven in the morning it takes me till the end of the day to usually get apparent growth. Maybe two weeks for a beard

Took me 5 months. I'm a slow grower because coffee and cigarettes tends to slow protein absorption and testosterone production. But if you're brave and you don't care what others think, you'll manage.

Oh by the way you too ladies, I did make a few typos. It takes me a few weeks. I meant to say I've had my beard for 5 months. It grows faster when I'm working out and not pounding the bottle of Jack's and smoking.

It depends on the individual, really.

Mine goes from a full shave to my pictured length in about ten days or so. YMMV.
